Trailer PS4

Sony has released some screenshots of The Order: 1886. Nothing really new unfortunately as they were taken from the in-engine trailer. We've also added that said trailer in better quality in its full version. The title features an alternative version of Victorian-era London and mythology fused with actual history. Players will control a member of an elite order of knights and will join a centuries-old war while wielding advanced weapons and gadgets.

Oh wow, that was in engine? Impressive. That fog looks fantastic! This was honestly the only game at the Sony conference that I didn't already know about that got me excited. Can't wait to see more from this!

kinda hard for me to believe this is in engine tbh. but it'd be awesome if it was.

Apparently not just in engine, but representative of gameplay visuals, since apparently cutscenes are entirely real time and integrated into gameplay. Quite impressive. Wish they showed some gameplay though....

Tesselation is evident. Yeap. It's legit. It IS in-engine.

They've already confirmed that this is the ingame engine and how it'll look. They are doing away with the breakin cutscene and in-game quality art so it's one seamless experiance visually. So this is how the game is going to look :) Which is STUNNING! :D

Sony Santa Monica helps smaller devs with graphics and engine. On PS3 they helped a lot of guys including: Journey, Starhawk etc

The setting really got me interested. Nice art direction and design. Hope they show some gameplay of it in the coming months as i'm curious of what kind of game it is.

The trailer looks like it's some realtime-running cinematic, which usually looks better than gameplay since it's common to swap for higher fidelity/quality models, shaders, filters etc during such sequences. Still, judging from the trailer i'm confident it will look quite nice.

It could be intresting game. I am glad they showed this because the conference was not that good. Showing multiplats only and indie exclusives. Hope they keep showing more PS4 games.

they're claiming it's entirely in-engine to get past the issues those elements would bring. assets are the same, lighting, shaders, everything. they're going from gameplay to cinematic seamlessly. i'd be insanely impressed if that where the case, when this was shown at the conference, i immediately wrote it off as CGi, and i think a lot of people did too, hence the lack of coverage.

if they prove those are the visuals though, then god damn. tesselation in effect, surely? excited to see what santa monica themselves are doing.

Yeah, this is all taken from in-game cut scene. I wouldn't doubt any of it. I wouldn't even say tesselation is even being used here. It's such a minimal effect that is often too expensive on hardware, I never really seen the point of it. Very overrated feature on PC. These just look to be the high level models. Surely the new hardware allows for models with a couple of extra thousand triangles here and there so that everything looks nice and detailed as you'd expect. Just look at the Quantum Break demo. All in-game apparently. Can't wait to see what games will look like after the first wave of launch titles, which are usually a bit rough anyway.

Had a look at the trailer. There's all sorts of little give-aways that it's real time. The aliasing flickering on the gun over his shoulder as he's talking to someone over a wireless being a big one. The thing that I'm loving most about games that are using the juice of these consoles is the cloth simulations and particle dynamics. They really bring things to life. It's probably what makes it so hard to believe it's real time, because you only ever really seen them done that well in CGI.

This is just a pre-rendered video that builted with game engine its meaning this is just a video file in full HD resolution.

I cant understand what you mean. but in engine videos like a large number of cut scenes on ps3 games are pre-rendered for example U3 cut scenes made by game engine but rendered with eight ps3.

Its all in-engine, they said there will be no difference between cutscenes and gameplay graphics. I will say that steampunk werewolves sounds fun

I'm saying pre recorded doesn't necessarily mean it's pre rendered.

their CEO said they will keep the same visual fidelity during gameplay segments. basically they won't have a high poly cut scene and a low poly gameplay character models

Think Uncharted cut scenes.
nooo Uncharted 3 are rendered on PS3 then enhanced (AA, motion blur etc) those weren't real time.

in this both the gameplay and cut scene characters are real time, everything is real time!

Tomorrow, 13th, is the last day of E3...so no i dont think they will demo it.
Another event probably, i for one am excited to see gameplay.
As a big fan of Van Helsing/Sleepy Hollow/Bram Stoker Dracula London setting, this could definitely be what i could ask for.
