Forget NBA, Euro 2012 or even Baseball, this summer is all about Evo! You may not have heard about the Evolution Championship Series - shame on you - so I will present it very briefly. Evo is the biggest fighting game tournament of the year and it is happening this week-end (July 6th-8th) in Las Vegas, Nevada. UPDATE : Results have been added
Everyone can participate in the tournament, we’re expecting thousands of participants for Evo 2012. Last year, a million people watched Poongko body Daigo on stage. Players will be playing seven different games, competing for $100,000 in prize money. Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Version 2012 is obviously still the star of the show but you will be able to watch some other great games like Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom, Soulcalibur V, Street Fighter x Tekken, Virtua Fighter V, King Of Fighters XIII and Mortal Kombat 9. You know we’re very cool people at Gamersyde, this is why we’re live-twitting the event on @Gamersyde on Twitter. Be sure to follow us over there to get all the info live. We’re primarily focusing on Street Fighter IV because there is a ton of great players that are coming this year :
Four of the five gods of Fighting Games are coming directly from Japan to blow America up : Daigo (he won the SF4 tournament at Evo 2009 and 2010), Haitani, Sako, and Tokido. America is ready. They have been training hard since last year, when Fuudo (JP) took it over Latif (US) on Grand Finals. Mike "Believe" Ross, Ricky Ortiz, J.Wong of course, Wolfkrone, Chris G, Combofiend, or Sandford Kelly are hungry. You can count on them to entertain you this week-end. Evo is not only about Japan and America, Europeans will also be there to show the world that they are the best. Starnab, Evans or Cuongster for France will have a chance to do something in Las Vegas. Ryan "The Prodigal Son" Hart is also coming from England to prove that he is the man. Xian from Singapore, Infiltration and Poongko from Korea are representing Asia. Poongko "The Machine" has tamed Daigo "The Beast" Umehara last year and show the word that he is the craziest man in the world. If you need one reason to watch Evo, it is Poongko. We’re not forgetting Mago, Uryo, Bonchan, Flash Metroid, Kazunoko, Allex Valle, Dieminion, Yipes, Juicebox, Filipino Champ, Fanatiq, Viscant, Pr Balrog, Kayane, Keev... and many more.
Team Spooky and IPlayWinner will stream the event on Twitch.Tv (we will give you the url later, along with the schedule). You can check the online brackets here and download a mobile app to have a complete schedule in your pocket. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@Gamersyde) and to come back here to check all the results.
The trailer looks like it could be a Metal Gear game. Could this be his most elaborate stunt yet? :D (1 Hour ago)
That Kojima game looks very tasty. (2 Hours ago)
Who knows, but even if they just said "Sit here and you're not alowed to leave this room", that's still extreme, no? (2 Hours ago)
They probably didn't *literally* lock him in a room. (2 Hours ago)
That's absolutely no way to treat a human being. Specially one that gave so much to the company during so many years of his life. Now I get where all the hate last night came from. (2 Hours ago)
"He was locked in a separate room on a different floor than his development team for the final six months of development. He couldn't even talk to them – he had to talk through someone else." Damn... (2 Hours ago)
