"Yada, yada, blah, blah, something, something else, facebook, blah, social media, bla blaaah blady-bla...connectivity...social media...friends list, something else, heard-it-all-before, yada, bla, *fart noise* video capture, social media, bla..."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

So, basically the same experience every other generic racer has, but with emphasis on social media? Grand.

they mention the "hardcore" a lot but I keep hearing this is more an arcade racer than a sim. I guess that makes sense if sony are pushing this as a new franchise..they're GT for the sim. It looks nice.. i'm expecting the new forza to out class it in most regards though, i'd be surprised if it doesn't.

Does "hardcore" just mean simulation fan? There are hardcore arcade fans. Not that the word even means anything anymore. The entire "core" thing has been perverted beyond belief by marketing. It's all a load of shit.

If that were really the case, the only hardcore racing fans would participating in track days, or at least playing something like iRacing on PC.

They had my attention when they released this video is at 1080p. Sony doing everything right since the console's reveal. If the game is going to run at full 1080p then release the videos at 1080p.
@bleachedsmiles Not with an underclocked GPU and 5gbs of GDDR3 memory either it won't. Oh but wait, the cloud will do all that, so then its an required always online racing game then too cutting out potential customers even more from a console that has an install base of 0.

I don't think so. Evolution have lots of experience in racing games will great environments especially. But this will be 30fps I am sure

I suspect "social integration" will be next generation's equivalent of motion controls, which is to say, superfluous rubbish nobody wants shoehorned into games with disastrous results.

I JUST WANT TO PLAY SINGLE PLAYER GAMES. Okay?

I'm not sure how being able to press a button to capture a moment to put on YouTube is going to stop you doing that tbh. Not in the same detrimental way motion controls stop you enjoying a game anyway.

best thing about racing games is competing against your friends lap times, and racing online I think

Exactly what I was thinking.

PS4 vidoes already piss me off with their emphasis on social media and developer frienliness.

Nonetheless, the game looks quite good.

If CRITERION'S Autolog (seriously EA's? it was in Burnout too you know it just didn't have a stupid name then) had teamwork involvement then yes, yes it would be the same thing. But Autolog is pretty much for just bragging rights.

hardcore racer to me definatly relates to more sim racing that arcade. Assists off, tuning ect.

I cant make sense the last bit as you're confusing real life with gaming for some reason. A "hardcore" gamer usually relates to a passion for gaming... not a passion for removing themselves from fantasy and acting out in real life. I wouldn't say you cant be a "hardcore " beat'em up fan if you're not doing finishing moves on people every Friday night. Or a "hardcore" fps gamer if you're not shooting people in the head on your way to work.

Track days are cheap and completely accessible. It's hardly the same thing as joining a fucking fight club. If my example was taking it to an extreme, yours is taking it to an even sillier one.

And you summed it up perfectly, it's all about enthusiasm and dedication to a thing. What that thing is doesn't really matter. There are plenty of hardcore arcade fans.

CORE CORE CORE!

Arcade != casual. Don't be silly.

At the end of the day, it's all semantics, aint it? "Core" and "Hardcore" have been widely usurped by marketing. It's all a bunch of nonsense.

placing the term "hardcore" to someone would relate to them having a passion for something. Placing "hardcore" in regards to a game generally means less accessable. Which however way you look at it would be a racing sim rather than an arcade racer. If you relate something like Mario kart to be a hardcore racer over something like GT5 then more power to ya.. but theres certainly a distinction there in regards to accessability.

And my examples was pointing out the daftness of yours.

Your example was far more daft. If you're actually a hardcore simulation fan, going to track days isn't really that wild.
