FDJV: TRU presentation

FDJV: TRU presentation

We were too late for the beginning of Tomb Raider: Underworld's presentation at the Festival du Jeu Video, but we still managed to record some footage of the Kraken level. Unfortunately the video projector there was really bad, so the quality of the video is quite low. Nothing we can do anything about, but don't expect our usual quality. Also worth mentioning, the unveiling of the "sonar" allowing Lara to scan her surroundings, being a big help I guess, but if it's used some achievements/trophies will be lost.

she still looks like a toon. they really need to update her character model to fit the increasing detail in the rest of the game.

i agree, she may be in quite fantastical environments doing quite fantastical things (finding the hammer of thor? fighting a giant octopus) but stylistically the envionment etc are very much of the "realistic" variety, wheras lara herself looks far to exagerated to come across as a believable realistic woman.

cant say im excited for the game, but i definately will play it.

who was even comparing? they do need to do something to lara tho to make her more realistic looking, i mean, most games now have nailed a realistic human appearance (not photoreal, but realistic non the less), but lara STILL looks like a cartoon character with exagerated eyes, lips, an unatural facial structure, waist and hips, and lets not forget her rediculously oversized boobs. now, you could argue its the artstyle, but considering the environments look realistic, that goes out of the window. the environment and overall style looks like its from a game thats trying to look realistic, lara herself looks like she would fit better in a game like BG&E

I agree. And the skin looks terrible, color and shader... bad model too. She just looks bad.

You guys like to complain. I'm fine with Lara model and for me it's the least important aspect of the game.

I like the way she looks.

Also there are real life people who share the same body-type/characteristics Lara has.

Big eyes, very full lips and big breasts aren't that weird to me. That's Lara Croft. Accept it or move on.

And yes it is the 'style' in which Lara is presented that makes her 'look' weird to some people. It all depends on individual taste. Me and alots of other fans love the way she looks and the style. Others won't and perhaps never will.

C'est la vie.

Yes I can speak a bit of French 2. X)

J'adore le Français! :)

Lara is Lara. She always been that way and I hope she is gonna stay that way.

I just can't put my finger on what's missing in this game.

Neither uncharted or tomb raider look realistic... they can add all teh detail they want, but the garish colors & texture work just makes them look like a cross of CG cartoon and a animation one.
Lara and tomb Raider embraces this, and makes it a design choice all together ( both the enviroments and Characther model feel in tune, so no you're wrong )... uncharted tries to go trough the uncanny valley, and lets just say... matell has a new line of Adventurous Ken & Friends plastic dolls for mechandise, if they want.

I really want to learn Blim, would you please tell me on what fronts I'd be eligible for the 2 weeks stuff you mentioned. Please clarify those terms that only I have said above or anywhere but another user hasn't...

i agree, the face seems "wrong"... (rest is ok, hehe)
it`s too "manga-ey", too "edgy". but still a must buy for me ^_^

the only thing missing to a "perfect" tr-game would be a photorealistic Lara :oD
maybe next time.

About the game

What's up?
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I really like the idea of GRW.. I wish the world was a little more interactive and the experience a little more varied. (45 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I'm definitely not getting it at launch if I'm ever playing it. (47 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX But yea.. the beta didn't really aid my interest in the game. They may have missed the mark on this one. (47 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Bullet holes on corpses? lol... (48 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts That's what I meant, but couldn't put into words when I said the game feels "hollow". Really doubt Ubisoft can fix it before launch, but maybe after several months. (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts From the soldier: "But this game doesn't have that same FEEL for me. It's buggy and clunky, and floaty. There's no impact or weight to anything, I know that sounds vague but it's what I experienced." (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts The man raises a lot of good points. Weapons sound weak, no bullet holes on enemy corpses, can't drag bodies to hide them, sound mix is flat and dull. Needs a lot of work. (1 Hour ago)
