Page 1 2 >>I actually liked this game...it plays pretty well too. I might actually pick it up when it's released. FEAR on the PS3 was a terrible conversion but this title is a million times better than that of the original. Playing in the mech is a lot of fun to play, especially when your shot people in half! :D
i can't wait to get fear2, the atmosphere seems to be in tact, even darker, but the overall art direction just doesn't do it for me like the first one did, but not a dealbreaker though.
i'm also very excited to see the remnants in action.

OH SO SEXY.
aiming wasnt very gd but still everything else seems nice.
I can't wait for this, the school corridor scene looked creepy as fuck. Definitely a game suited to headphones and a dark room :)

Aiming on console controllers is a highly subjective issue, I always tend to adjust the sensitivity fairly low and I really don't have any problems aiming accurately. On the subject of the game it looks nice, seems like they did a good job putting it on PS3 instead of the piss poor port the original game.
Obviously a fault of backward console controls.
I'm pretty certain I'll wipe the floor with this game on the hardest difficulty setting with my Dualshock 3 (aim assist off, of course).
looks a million times better than the first (especially as this is the PS3 version)
Also, please no more of the bashing of console controls. Only an idiot would suggest either a mouse or a joystick is in any way actually better, they are different, they have strnegths and weaknesses. Its up to personal preferances. And personally i find the PS3 controller less then perfect when it comes to hardcore aiming. A bit too loose and open.
This game they seem to have at least understood that problem and started to fix there darn repeating environment.
Graphics, Physics, Animations FTW
If this game was a console exclusive to say PS3, everyone would be going bonkers about how amazing the graphics look because they are in every meaning of the term AMAZING. I would say the interiors are on par with Crysis and the environment are eerily familiar and that good way that blurs reality.

its a very crisp game, very little aliasing issues etc, but technically its a bit on the meh side.
it did and still does have some of the best AI out there tho, so it does have something going for it.
More like the user's lack of talent with his controller.

How anybody can get any enjoyment out of needless rubbish like that is beyond me. These games should be left on the platform they are intended for, the PC.
Don't even go there. Playing a shooter with a joypad is akin to eating soup with a fork. Just look at how messy the shootout is in the canteen section.
very likely its down to the player lack of experience with FPS's tbh. i know for a fact i never play like that, but then i've played FPS's on consoles since doom. i've adapted to it to a point where my skills with a controller far outweight my skills with a mouse and keyboard. it doesnt mean a control pad is the better control methid, but its MY prefered method, just like mouse and keyboard is yours.
the next gen of consoles should definitely support some sort of keyboard and mouse interface, something like fragfx.
it's not only a matter of preference, objectively speaking, a gamepad could never give you the accuracy that a mouse can, and if it did, it would make it unplayable e.g. ut3, cod4, hl2, tf2, l4d and fear all control and are paced alot slower on the consoles, and all use aim assist(some more subtle than others).

If the game is good enough, then you can overlook how the game is controlled. The slow turning cycle and somewhat clunky aiming can be a hindrance, but nothing more than that. It is not a game wrecker. Besides, MS (or Sony) really do need to start telling devs to include KB and mouse controls, or at least update the game via a patch allowing for it and release their own brands of KB and mouse for serious FPS gamers to at least contemplate buying. They did it for Q3 on the DC, so pull the fucking thumb out Sony and MS. Especially you, MS.
Anyway, as for this game, I think it's looking decent. Graphics are fine. They are good enough to do the job, but nothing mind blowing good. Overall it looks as if it's not a great departure from the original, which is fine, because I liked the original. The Mech street section reminds me of Turok 2 where you controlled the Triceratops in one of the levels for reason.
Please tell me what Crysis does better then this game on interiors?
lol, no, i've dissliked this engine for a while now. its had a few tweeks since fear 1, but its still incredibly dated looking. and to say it looks on par with crysis is just.....the mind boggles seriously...lol
