FFXV at 60 FPS when it can...

We've been waiting for months for the PS4 Pro patch for Final Fantasy XV and it is now available. Sadly, the game only runs at 60 fps when it can, which we have not even been able to see yet as the game seems more comfortable around 40 something frames per second. No option to lock the famerate at 30 like before if you can't stand a fluctuating framerate (we'll probably have to wait another couple of months for that). The only possibility is then to play with the high quality mode and its horrible frame pacing issues (you didn't expect them to be fixed in this patch, did you?). Well, well...

Oh dear but also, oh well. It was plain obvious from that very first released "Duscae" demo that these particular devs are not very good at optimising their game engine for the actual 2 targeted platforms the game was releasing on.

It really doesn't come as any surprise. Pity they couldn't get some lessons from somebody like Guerilla Games on how to optimise the game on PS4 at least (a long time ago during development of course, not just throwing brute force of the PS4 Pro at it after launch as an afterthought).

completed this in lite mode and i honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between it and high. lite seemed to run a smidge faster and looks a smidge worse maybe?. the game looks great either mode. kind of obvious it was never going to hit 60fps though, not looking that nice.

They keep ruining the pro version. Why completely take away the 30fps locked version!? And they still haven't addressed the horrible frame pacing issues on high mode.

Gamersyde, which tool do you use to analyze the framerate and frametimes? I suppose you capture the video first and then analyze it, but how? Thanks :)

BlimBlim made a specific plugin we run on the lossless file we capture.

the battles now aren't choppy on the unlocked mode and that's good
