wish i could get into JRPG's but its such an unispiring genre no matter how pretty you make the cut scenes.

Generic characters that look like they've stepped out of the countless other JRPGS that inexplicably still flood the market - check. Random morphs to a flat plaine battle ground as you tediously wait your turn to hit the same enemy character model you've killed a thousand times prior - check. Long drawn out cutscenes - check. A linear story with only one path and possible outcome - check... you cant say its not a consistant genre atleast.

FF is a win for the 360 for sure.. but i cant force myself to invest in it. Shame as it looks quite pretty

Gotta brush up on my Japanese... Think it'll be region free?

And I don't doubt that the game had to be scaled down once MS forked over the cash--probably not so much in terms of graphics, but rather dialogue and CG scenes. Can't be having a 10-disc game ;)

yep, out come the excuses.... neglecting the fact that the game was pretty much finished before the 360 PORT started work on.

Be funny if when they both hit and the 360 version unsurprisingly looks and performs better as is the norm with multi-platform titles. And ofcourse it will perform better than the ps3 version because MS paid them off *rolls eyes*

Heh, I don't expect it to be a better game (in terms of content) on the PS3 but it should perform better, it's the lead platform after all. I would think twice buying it if content was cut on the 360, just like ToV.

Yeah pretty sure the devs said they were completing work on the PS3 version before even starting the 360 version, probably for that exact reason, to avoid one affecting the other in anyway and instead optimizing each one separately based on it's consoles strengths and weaknesses.

The game uses the White Engine which was development as a multiplatform engine according to Square Enix so I dont think it'll be looking any less impressive.

It can't exactly look worse than the demo and that looked great, apply my philosophy which is, never judge a games visuals based on screenshots.

lol, indeed, typical JRPG. Looks awesome on cutscenes (in-game or CGI), and takes a huge dip in gameplay, and another huge dip once other areas--besides the first--are shown. Typical I tell you.

The more I see this game; the less it looks like the E3 trailer from 2007. I'm tired of the japanese developers releasing cgi trailers with an attempt to pass them off as real gameplay. They seem to be the only developer who still think it's cool to use Hollywood cgi graphics for water cooler moments and cutscenes. I'm sure most gamers like myself appreciate the games more when the game's own in-game engine is used throughout the entire game. The pre-rendered stuff is so ten years ago and it looks out of place when things switch from pre-rendered to in game. And, why do you think the japanese developers always release small screen-shots. It's obviously because they don't want the gamers to see just how far they are behind the rest of the industry in terms of visual substance. I want this game, but it's lost a lot of steam even with the announcement of a 360 version.

Actually, he is right up to some point. Wrong in that i really doubt they could care less about having a 10 disk game (wish i really hardly doubt, more like a 4-5 disk game), because in the end we are still going to buy it. But he is right in that, no matter how much we go around it, this baby is going to come in a pretty huge and expensive package by Microsoft hands.

Think thrice, Vesperia is japanese exclusive. And if by "lead" you mean more powerful, you are right, the thing is that so far performance of multiplatform titles has been better on xbox360, therefore you'll probably enjoy the game better on that console, but who knows... Maybe in the end we will get console exclusive bonus content and the console wars over ffxiii will start again...

Seriously, FF in its current form (semi turn-based JRPG) should stay on PS2. Its such an old, boring concept.
Just think about it - take any MMORPG with huge amount of grind and strip down the "MMO" part (community, open world, etc.) ...THERE YOU GO! JRPG without cut-scenes :D

The game is easily one of the best looking...going from the demo at least... comparisons with ME (the original) don't fly...I've played that game on pc and FFXIII is MUCH bette looking...Character models and environments ae the same in cutscenes as in gameplay fom what I could make out...just some added effects...

It seems to be that none of the other people on here have actually played the demo...Its easily the best looking rpg I have played on any system

O__o I don't exactly know where you got your demo, but seriously, they are not. I mean, I'm not exactly against cutscenes using in-game graphics more profficiently or just using CG, but you can't deny every cutscene looks far better than the gameplay (characters included). What I really don't like, like many have stated before me, is that they give us uber screenshots and videos, and in the end the real thing looks totally inferior. This gen, that amount of absolute graphical let down has only been achieved by two games, one of them being this one, and the other caused by the legendary trailer of Killzone 2, but at least Killzone 2 tried...
