Abysmal voice acting, the worst character designs in Squaresoft history, button masher combat, and a nonsensical and ugly world of mobile phones, big American cars, and generic monsters on a giant grass field.

And to think Final Fantasy used to be one of the most respected series around.

Voice acting is as bad as it ever was, character designs are comparable to ff8 or Advent Children. The world is hardly ugly and the monsters are ff monsters, nothing more, nothing less. Your comment just doesn't make any sense.

I really like the design but the voice acting and their bad integration in the world sounds terrible.

World looks plain boring and weird, fantasy monsters in modern like...everything? really dumb.

Then we got a groud of metrosexual Jpop NSync garbage design that is just bad.
And VO sucks.

Only good things i can say is, good music, awesome visual effects and stylish animations during combat.

It is a unoptimised at the moment but the foundations are there for a very impressive looking game. It is interesting to see the world looks far more realistic than say Dragon Age, while the beasts and character models look better. Got a lot of promise this one. Glad I have Witcher 3 this year though.

Massive amounts of promise, but very rough at the moment. The combat needs a lot of work. I was expecting something as tight as Kingdom Hearts considering it was started by the same team, but it's not even close.

After the Ramuh summon I will buy the game just to see the rest of them. It's already off to a better start than XIII.

The characters look cool especially the main character, if someone from SE reading here please add overworld music, sound effects only are boring.

And I thought you have to have a mohican and a full beard (or at least designer stubble) to pass as metrosexual these days. JPop or not, this is still better then those Barbie dressup game sequels that end with -2.

I guess I am the only one familiar with the concept of suspending your disbelief. People seem to be hunting for things to hate when there is so much to love.

My friend said that the yellow hair (whatever his name is) is very annoying.
And if you can kill him or remove him from the team, that'll be good

The combat is fine. It's the camera view that needs changing. Because so much is happening at once, the camera isn't helping by being too close to Noctis. During combat, it needs to zoom out and tilt above a bit (similar to Witcher 2/3).

I started with japanese VO at the start since I saw the previous trailers and abysmal English voices.

Also, it's quite difficult at some points. Especially when fighting waves of enemies. The combat is definitely NOT a button masher. You will die quickly. Parrying and dodging are actually difficult (because if you just keep holding dodge button you will run out of MP).

Apart from the bugs, framerate drops and aliasing that you expect in a demo, it runs quite while. The graphics don't seem as great as what we saw in official videos. I mean, they definitely look amazing. But the shadows and lighting don't seem as beautiful as the official videos. Probably because they weren't run on a native PS4. Hopefully, the final version will be as good as the official videos.

I've just got up to the first fight with the behemoth and about to go to the chocobo farm. Loving the fact that the FF Victory Fanfare theme IS IN THE GAME! (It happens after camping)

FF13 had its own victory fanfare which sucked. Also, the combat's difficult will require you to use potions quite a bit sometimes. I used Potion several times when fighting a behemoth. Still not sure how Phoenix Down works since it's Game Over when Noct dies.

I will reiterate that Noctis' original design was better. And Sath, really, can you hop off the bandwagon for 10secs and actually pay attention. The character's aren't a boy band, don't look like one and don't behave like one...but I guess you'd have to play the game and not be a sheep to make a cogent argument wouldn't you.

The visuals seem pretty good, almost too good to be true in a jrpg. animations are also good too.

The only things that does bug me about this game however are the character design choices, dubbing and scripting.

Conversations are really simple and the characters just don't seem to fit their situations......there's just too much swagger getting in the way, softening up the mood it's supposed to have.

The faces are great and their hair is good too. I would have liked though to see these characters in more sensible gear, a little bit more rougher and serious.

Voice acting /is/ pretty bad, although not utterly atrocious. -Well, some of them..

Their hair is definitely too perfect for having slept all night in their clothes, -with each other.

Also, god does this need better AA, hopefully a temporal AA variant, particularly with all the hair and alpha affects Final fantasy loves to use that are going on. A very lovely looking game, that's marred by a lot of flickering and distracting aliasing. Definitely deserves better, but this game admittedly is a long way out from release, likely. Still.

Also, I know it's very Japanese, but the design of the UI is aesthetically rather terrible, if at least functional.

I am just damn glad they have the Japanese voices option, cause the English ones are terrible. I just cannot cope with them. That said, i LOVE the animations in this game, the combat looks fantastic too, and feels great as well.

They need to add some goddamn spec maps to the hair, and the draw distance on the little patches of grass looks fugly. Other than that, this looks boss :)

Aye, they sound like a parody version of a Scooby Doo episode, and that's saying something about how bad the voices are. Not fussed on how the characters look either, but then again, Square (and Japanese artists in general) have a thing about making the main male characters all look like females anyway. Other than that, the models themselves look good. The summons powers look amazing.

Seeing "fans" complain of the characters' looks after they played 14 previous releases that had effeminate guys all over the place is the funniest thing!

Lighten up, FF never had Duke Nukem/Rambo main characters, FF15 is great as it is... only needs some graphical/performance issues fixed.

Have both PC and console, got no issues picking this up on console. It would be nice to bring this over to PC, after they complete the ffxiii trilogy.

I also have to say the outfits after ffx were very awkward and lacked sense. The outfits in ffvii were good, the outfits in ffviii were also good and also changed depending on story. FF IX were great too.

I was the first criticise the voice acting, but i actually thought it was okay. I liked the character dynamic so much I think it was serviceable. Nothing will beat the japanese but the english isnt as terrible as FFXIII trilogy
