First Dev Diary for Homefront

First Dev Diary for Homefront

THQ released this Dev Diary video for Homefront focusing on the historical context in which the story takes place. As you will see, the developers have put a lot of effort in creating a game with a solid background. We were rather convinced of the potential of the game when we saw it in Cologne last August, but whether or not it will hold up to its promises is obviously to soon to tell.

sounds pretty good. the video editing in this dev dairy made me LMAO tho, it looked like a student film made by a graphic designer studying typography. you know, like the millions you see on youtube synced up to songs or scenes from movies all done in aftereffects. just seemed kinda cheap.

all i can really say is that i hope to god it's better then frontlines, cos that was one piss poor, clunky FPS.

I love it. Can't wait to see more of this in the near future.

Why aren't they showing any new footage of the game? I don't like when developers are all talk, and no walk.

Show me a new gameplay video, then let me judge if your world's atmosphere is done as well as you're describing it.

There was SOME gameplay footage in there, just not enough for my liking. I'm not a fan of these DEV videos, but this one is not that bad.

I for one an super excited for this title, more than any other fps on my checklist for 2011!

I am really interested in this game, multiplayer aspect of it anyways.
Glad its in the year of 2027, a bit futuristic type, and with the whole resistance stuff :)

The multiplayer looks like Frontlines Fuel of War and that game was very fun!
But I can't help noticing how the animations between the hands and the guns looks like the latest COD games (never a bad thing).

I hope we see more of multiplayer.

They are creating very high expectations in interviews and dev diaries. They even compare it to Half-life 2 (you need cojones to do that). But I haven't seen anything that makes me believe they are going to deliver on their promises. Mainly because they aren't showing any good footage. I also read that there is a lot of work to be done on the graphics (belgian game magazine) and multiplayer didn't impress as much as the reporter thought it would. I'm not sold (yet).

day 1

these guys made DESERT COMBAT for Battlefield 1942 which considered to be one of the best mods ever!! then they helped developed Battlefield 2 followed by them developing Frontlines Fuel of War

About the game

What's up?

droezelke @Melmoth: No, there won't be games this year with realtime ray-tracing (ie only 1 light source). (13 minutes ago)

droezelke @Melmoth: I don't know who it was here, but my message was for him. He thought that games using this tech would be released this year. Also nVidia hinted at it, but they meant that it might help... (15 minutes ago)

Melmoth as for generational jump in performance. i think for nvidia it's been about 1.5-1.7x increase the last 4-5 gens. with the pascal cards (10 series) being around 1.7x performance of maxwell (900series) (44 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth showing the tech in question. So if they took a GTX 1060 (which is mid-tier now) and tailor-made a demo to show it's full potential, it would look much better than the latest games out there. (49 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth which is both due to the hardware used to run them being years ahead in raw performance (not features) and equally important, the demos being a very polished very small slice with a strong focus on (51 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth Which isn't unlikely when looking at the past 20 years of tech demos and the adoption. it's important to state that using the technology isn't equal to looking as good as the tech demos. (53 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth are supposed to be a accurate representation of how full games look the next year or two. Nvidia only said the tech would be in GPU's this year, and most likely in games shipping as soon as fall 2018. (55 minutes ago)
