Xbox 360 PS3

Codemasters finally released the first imags of Race Driver One, the follow-up of the excellent Toca games on last gen consoles. It certainly does look good, but I'll take these images with a grain of salt considering Codemasters' habit to use renders with the Toca series.
MAJ: Images removed at Codemasters' request.

A large bucket of salt I'd say.

Could be wrong though....

Well, I'd say, this is ingame. The third screens shows gameplay, the others are replay-caps. Look at that statue on screen 5. It's not beautiful, a rendered film would be better!! Or am I wrong?

It's ingame... I'm Pretty sure, Screen 1 to 5 are taken from Replays. Screen 3 is ingame, because you cam see the hud. Screen 6 looks like an Artwork, but who cares. Graphics ROCK!

Xeah, that's what I wanted to say. First the game is in a very early stat of development, and 2nd, the fact that it isn't very beautiful counts out the possibilty of seeing CGI on these screens!!

'cause there's no way they could render and overlay a HUD on top! ;)

Yeah there will be less AA but anyway if you imagin this screen with some jaggies it would still look really good.

Could still be in game, think it's fair to say the pictures have been touched up, but looks in game to me.

Very nice it looks too :)

considering how great DiRT looked its not hard to belive these are all in-game with NO touch ups...BUT...much like DiRT it'll probably have performance issues (which other then tearing i never really witnessed)

looks nice, a lot grittier and "realistic" then the uber shinyness of GT or PGR.

Well there is no aliasing in the supposed gameplay screen, so there is something wrong with that. Other than that the car models look very good and real.

btw: The pics look like they were taken just 100-200m apart from eachother in the same street you can see on the 3rd pic (on the hud).

You do realize that you can't add AA after an image has been captured, right? There is no way this is ingame (as in captured while the game was running).

certainly game engine shots, taken at high res, scaled down, voila no jaggies, looking so fucking hot, i want, now :D

edit: there are traces of jaggies and you can clearly see its game engine, most likely the usual trick of 5xxxX4xxx screenshot and then scale it down to 1280x720

Wow, if this is in-game, it will blow every other racing game out the water graphically.

EDIT: Surely its not possible for a game to look this good, I am truely astonished by what i'm seeing, i mean even with 2xAA, it would still be amazing.

1, 3 and 5 are in-game. I've been amazed a couple of times of games looking render-quality which turn out to be in-game. Still images look good appearantly, but let's see how it moves.

I think they are true-in game. The over exposed washed out look kind of bothers me. Looks good, but I'd rather see a more realistic lighting approach.

My guess on re-rendered screenshot, would only be the last shot. It just doesn't look right.

The detail I love... the lighting model... not so much.

It could definitely be game-engine, although to make it look smoother they probably output it at a much higher resolution and scaled it back down (after-all, that is how Anti-Aliasing works at hardware level). EA use it a lot in promotional shots.

It has a DiRT-engine feel about it, which was visually stunning - so I'm expecting it to look close.

The only worry is that DB9R seems to be sliding very arcade-like. I hope it's just over steer, and the game doesn't have the same 'floaty' handling DiRT did.

Well of course these are touched up and not nearly 100% ingame. But that being said, the Toca games, IMO, rival GT and Forza and I have a lot of hope that this game will be codemasters best racing sim yet. If they go the Dirt route and arcade it up a little, I'm sure it will still be a very fun game, just not the game Toca fans are dreaming of.

I cannot wait to see ingame and play this thing.
