Forza Horizon 3 on PC - DSR4K/60fps

Forza Horizon 3 on PC - DSR4K/60fps

We have finally been able to download and play the PC version of Forza Horizon 3, and here is the result of our session with the game running on ultra settings at 4K (thanks to Nvidia's DSR). It is important to stress that the following commented video was recorded this morning, and that the latest Nvidia drivers were not available. The warning message from the game saying that our PC was not up-to-date might explain the slowdowns we have seen at 1080p. In the following video, you'll also see a few drops, but it's not too bad considering the resolution. Pop-in remains a bit of an issue too on PC, especially in the forest, as shown in the last part of our footage. We doubt 4k will run at a steady 60 fps frame-rate after installing the drivers, but they should definitely help improve the overall experience. Enjoy the video!
Rig used: i7 6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 Go RAM (DDR4), Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 1080 Founder's Edition MSI

Drift, does anyone on GSY team have a 4k display? I'm just wondering why you're downsampling. Or is because of the server HDD space constraints?

The best racing game that released recently. Thank you GSY.

Blim's TV is 4K but that's about it, and Blim does not play much. :)

We're downsampling because we don't have a 4k capture card that can do 60 fps, and I personally don't have a 4k display (and have no intention to invest in one).

I'll try to do some 1440p videos tomorrow, like I did for Forza 6 Apex.

At what specs is video recorded?
Not bad looking, maybe apart from mirror view (which looks like ps1 game)

We're not allowed to before the Ulitimate edition launches.

Blim does not play much.
Then you should let him play more during Livestreams or to record footage of games, it would also help you with practicing your English skills, so a win-win situation for your both.

PS. Any reasons why you're not interested in investing in a 4K TV?

Because I don't care about 4k.

As for Blim playing, haha, he will never accept. :)

He still would not be able to record some 4k footage anyhow, so it's not like you'll be missing out.

I am a bit worried about the hitching problems. It sounds like what you can see in FM6: Apex, even in the full version (which runs much better than the beta).
I might play on XBO if that is the case, as any kind of stutter is really annoying to me.

The latest drivers have done their magic, 99% smooth using DSR 1440p. I'm preparing the video now. :)

Love the downsampling gives us an idea of how Pro games will look! Very clean :)

The roads are too wide. Totally kills the immersion.

Anyway, one of the main point of the new graphics API's was to prevent the graphics card manufacturers to hack their drivers after the release of each new major game. Maybe it will still be a thing with DX12? I hope game developers will use Vulkan instead.

MrWhite I've heard OLED crushes black levels too much, so much that mid tone details get lost. (2 Hours ago)

Melmoth @jmd749: OLED is king for watching movies, and especially if you sit off-center (17 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @jmd749: FALD can be a bit hit and miss, depending on how many zones and how aggressive it's programmed to work. Like the Q8 that's got far fewer zones (causing glow around bright objects) (19 Hours ago)
  • jmd749
jmd749 I'm excited for you, that is a beast of a television, with far superior HDR performance than any OLED with minimal to no burn-in issues. :P (22 Hours ago)
  • jmd749
jmd749 When I got my OLED 2017 FALD panels were more expensive, it's good to see they've dropped in price. I'd probably have bought the same as you, cause tbf FALD with just under 500 zones is good for a 65" (22 Hours ago)
  • jmd749
jmd749 @Melmoth: 15ms latency is pretty good and 2K nits will make for some very good HDR viewing, though a higher electricity bill. :P Agreed, I play old games on my PC monitor to avoid burn in on my OLED. (22 Hours ago)
