GC08: More of Op. Flashpoint 2

GC08: More of Op. Flashpoint 2

Codemasters released another set of in-game (or perhaps in-engine) images from Operation Flashpoint 2, and it looks pretty good.

Do we still have to deal with bullet sounds that seem to come from everywhere, and before you can turn to look, you are dead?

Flashpoint was just too realistic for me (this is supposed to be fun people).
America's Army could learn a thing or two though :)

Sorry if I was too subtle, the pics look like bullshots, as in "oh dear people didn't like the chopper pic, quick release the pretty "in-game" shots :)

These images are nowhere the same as the target renders, so they are at least more 'real' than those.

Too much Bloom/HDR effects for me. I mean it's cool effect but why developers use it so much. Just look at the second picture... hmm maybe there is some nuke exploding or something. Then it's ok I guess.

Bloom makes games realistic.

Lightbeams, sun god rays are what make games realistic. Seeing lightbeams coming from corners of buildings and through trees. *drool*

Kidding me? Look at the textures and stuff, and no transparency aa on the grass and trees, looks pretty shabby, its definetly ingame.
Even World in Conflict looks better, and thats an RTS :)

I can forgive the quality though due to the scope of the enviroments.

some people do find comfort in realism, and i appreciate it alot more in games especially since i started airsofting with my friends... good exercise and it get you pumped. anyways these in game pics do the game justice vs the other ones that were taken from the view of land aircrafts. etween arma 2 and flashpoint i think ima go with this. i like what theyre tryin to bring to the table.

It is surely ingame. On gamespot you can see an interview with somebody from the developpers, while the game is running in the background (on the EGO-engine, as in GRID). It looks great in motion. But the realism is to hard to have real fun. On the other hand it's completely unrealistic in the fact that you can drive and pilot every vehicle in the game (never knew that private soldiers were trained to be capable of doing that).

if they AA'd the shit out of this game it would look amazing, but thats the only thing bad i can say. the distant textures too look pretty bad and lazy. in my opinion, releasing beautiful CG renders early in development before showing actual in-game pics like this was a bad idea because i was expecting stuff to look a lot better and am not blown away by it now.
