GC: Fable 3 gameplay

GC: Fable 3 gameplay

A nice developer from Lionhead put us in a combat demo mode in the Gc build of Fable 3, allowing us to test a bit more of the fighting system. Video inside.

Hmm, looks as boring as in Fable II it seems. This idea with just having one kind of attack on each button it's quite stupid imo, just makes it less fun and versatile. Also I hated the fact that there was no real "feedback" that you actually hitted the enemies, the feeling of impact was really really thin. The control should rumble every time you hit, atleast..

But hey, I still have hopes its better than Fable 2. Cant understand how any1 liked the fights in that game

I think it's time for Peter to take a step aside.

Now this is what I am talking about for combat in a RPG.

I have to say when it comes to fantasy RPGs, so far, Fable 2 and 3 has the best combat IMO for a guy like me who likes real-time combat.

if it wasnt for the fact fable is an establised name and franchise, i honestly dont think people would even give this a second look. it looks like an incredibly average hack n slash action adventure game.

technically it looks like Fable 1 in HD without gras...

Adventure/RPGOTY, right here. Loving the fluidity of the combat and animations, greatly improved from Fable 2.

it's funny that you need Physix to run cloth in Mafia 2, but here it is almost as good in Fable 2. funny stuff.

Wow, those hollowmen look great! The combat animations look very smooth and the WILL is also looking like it's been greatly improved.

Good job Lionhead! I'll be swinging my axe in Albion again in October :)

The demo also provided the game beginning where you would play a young prince in his castle ( the same seen in the trailer ), you would first choose your style ( Either noble clothes or commoner clothes ) then had to walk in the castle garden looking for what looks like your fiancee. Character interaction was somewhat improved and allow you to really direct "emotes" to only one person ( compared to Fable II where any action would affect everyone around you ) even though they were somewhat limited in this build. You could shake hands, nag someone, have some harsh speech, take a girls hand and have her follow you like this, provide a speech to a group of people with "Good" and "Evil" choices, mainly actions that a king or prince would do ( no more fart or such, but they could be unlockable later like in Fable II ).
The game is also v-locked, preventing any tearing, but as it was a debug build, it made the framerate quite slow, hopefully the release version will run better.
All in all, it looks like a good Fable game, more complete than the second one with a new Albion, and as such I'm thrilled to get my hands on the full game.

Ummmhh I don't know maybe we need to plan our attacks with a good half hour in the menus.

TRY AND GET YOUR COMBAT MULTIPLIER EVEN HIGHER.

Looking forward to this :P

I absolutely adore the Fable series, so this is a no brainer as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with Sath, the combat has always been quite satisfying in Fable, but it is one of those games that is greater than the sum of its parts. None of the various gameplay aspects are groundbreaking, but come together so well, with the charm that is seldom seen from other games.

Looks great.

@Skoll

lol! :o)

Nope.
The only things you need to "plan" is what magic you want in the quickmenu and weapons thats it. The combat is very similair to Fable 2 but seems to be more fluid which is nice.
