Yeah i don't mean to slag on this, but the demo may now result in less sales. Some of the of the dialog felt like it came straight from the eighties or something as well and the handing although not all out dreadfull i guess, did feel like it was on ice. Perhaps more time with the demo may change my mind but people tend to move on from first impressions, so this will likely do very badly
There's so much over the top processing on those shots they look like dodgy photocopies from a tabloid newspaper found in the gutter circa 1970. A good look, it is not.
Ice? Defo not.... I'd say the 70's car's and newer muscle cars were harder to control than say the Ford GT, Ruf's or Abarth etc etc but then you expect that surly?
Why do those screens look so much better than the demo? Anyway, I thought the car models looked pretty good in the demo, and the damage was nice. The handling wasn't terrible, but not great either. Other than that though, not much to write home about.
If you are going to remove the ability to get out of the car, shoot people, blow stuff up, run over pedestrians, go in buildings, etc, you better have a DAMN good driving model and a good story. The gameplay just felt like a cheap imitation of the original. Not sure why they can't capture the feel of the original game when it has been what, like 15 years? As for the story, well we all know that isn't going to be good.
Oh well, wasn't planning on buying it anyway after the whole "shifting" nonsense. The series has lost me as a fan.....
Xoar: Yeah i agree about the lazy type handling for the sort of cars you get to drive, but really for me it's like there was an extra layer getting in the way of feedback, if in fact there was much depth to the driving model anyway. That said iv'e only played the demo once so it's my first impression i'm going on. People tend to move on very quickly though, trusting too much of these first impressions and so this demo may hurt sales
I'll try it again some time though as i don't want to judge it unfairly
