Not a lot of new details from DriveClub right now at Gamescom but at least new screenshots and a look at the three pre-order special cars.

We definitely need some footage of this from show floor. Hopefully the new track and time of day is easier to capture then last time. Screens look impressive though.

Kinda looks like a PS3 game running in 1080p, but I'm happy about that. With this plateau maybe devs can finally start focusing on gameplay over graphics

There are some spots where the texture work could be a bit better but overall I like the looks better than forza5. The lighting in this game looks much more natural than forza. Forza has always looked a bit cartoony to me. I'm willing to bet that the textures are where they are because the bulk of development was done with the mindset that there would half the system ram available.

I had fun with the motor storm games but that was due to the environmental track ideas as the core gameplay was below par. I can't see this team nailing a good cross between sim and arcade racing but I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed as I'd love something that feels like a project Gotham game!

Synce, that's how i look at Forza5.

Has mainly pre-baked lighting, no day/night cycle.


Driveclub has massive vista's/tracks day/night cycle. Very Detailed cars.

But when real footage is released. People will know.

they did pretty well nailing that ballance with the WRC games on PS2.

Great looking foliage, far more impressive than Poly has done in the past on the environments.
That said, I don't have a ton of confidence in this doing anything other than looking great.

If you look at the cars, maybe. If you look at literally anything else, not even fuckin' close. You should really look at GT5 footage again, and you'll see that it's not just a PS3 game running in HD.
And with these guys I'm worried that this game won't offer exceptional gameplay, and so far nothing they've mentioned as big features are all that unique. Combine that with this being the first entry in the property and I just don't know.
