Asobo Studios keeps releasing a few new images of Grand Raid Offroad every few weeks, and every time it makes me want to see more of this game.

Wonderful images... I'm quite interested in this one! (I do hope though that they have tire trails in the final version ;)

One question: is there any more information available for this game? I see on the overview page that it is scheduled for 2006 (sub-question: for which region is that line, Europe?), and that it is playable over Live. Have new things arisen that show a more determined launch date, as well as how the Live part will be like? Thanks for any answers. :)

Sorry, not every thread has to degrade into that conversation Eddy.

Game looks very good so far.

Maybe it's just all of the lauch title did'nt have suffice time to develope the games, they had only about 2-3 months with final hardware, i believe.

I think Eddy must have missed the Sony comments that they still don't have the Nvidia GPU out to devs. It was expected in November, we are now going into January. Looks like Sony is giving devs the same 2-3 months with final hardware...

The games looks cool specially the backgrounds, it makes me wounder how the halo 3 backgrounds will be, Halo is known for their massive background in the single player.

This just shot up the list - those screens are nice!

Excellent!

Looking forward to this game!

Wonder if they have a sand physics engine.....can you leave ruts in the sand? Like a skier in snow?

Those screens look very nice and such a big improvement compared to the older ones. I hope they can fix the grass and as the above poster said have sand physics. The lighting looks awesome!

I'm more interested in the 60 car races myself.

Eddy, do you now anything about programming? If not, do not speculate.

Looks fantastic, hope it plays as good as it looks. And yeah, they need tire imprints in the sand and dirt, would really make it more realistic looking. Great ambiance with the lighting too.

hope its framerate is 60fps, cos if it anything less i aint buying it.. especially after giving PGR3 a chance, Yuk...as nice as it looked in stills, the motion made me feel sick..

Well like I said before, the vehicles still dont match the enviorments that they are put in...but other than that it looks cool.

The best this has to offer in graphics is the lighting and the draw distance, very nice. Other than that, it's not that impressive IMO.

Lighting just so happens to be 100% of what we see in real life.

I want to see tire marks in the sand, if there are none, this game will suck =)

Ok 2 questions:

1. Is this game going to be like a simulator where you have to cross the dessert in your car?

2. WTF is "Boulet Time" and why does I keep seeing it in almost every comment thingy?
Commented on 2005-12-30 11:18:06
this looks like some slick lighting/shading over mediocre graphics...the cars look like NFS or ridge racer qualtiy imo...still cud be a good game tho...

call of duty 2 actually uses all three threads one for physics(even though there very little in the game) 1 for A.I and the other for everything else

full auto is using all three as well, and just because they are using all 3 does not mean that it is using its full potential it just mean there learning how it works

GriftGFX And you need the script extender for stuff like SkyUI. (51 minutes ago)

GriftGFX script extender functionality (at least temporarily) (52 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Even games with robust toolkits are often enhanced by third party tools. Skyrim is a good example. There's still a lot of folks playing the original version on the PC because the re-release broke (52 minutes ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Ironically the last thing I had to hack to get to run correctly was a Microsoft Game Studios title. That bodes well for the future :P (53 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth i have run some injectors/hacks on a few games to fix certain limitations of resolution or such, but not since Dark Souls 1. (59 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth i rarely use mods. last time was xcom2, and that supports mods out of the box. I'm not that into replacing models in WWE, GTAV or SFV. But ofc, for people who live for that stuff it's not a good thing (1 Hour ago)
