Rockstar Games has shared on its official site brand new PC screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V and announced a trailer will be coming in the weeks ahead.

if the PC is supposed to be the definitive version why do all these screen shots look like upscaled PS4/XB1 versions of the game, flat textures and low geometry not to mention bad AA and AF, if this is why the game was delayed to fix these problems then ok but if these issues have not been fixed by release a lot of people who waited ages for the PC version will not only be bitterly disappointed but will probably never buy a rockstar made game again, let's not forget how Ubisoft got us with Watch dogs, just becuase GTA V is from Rockstar not Ubisoft does not give them excuses to deliver a broken game especially when they have had such a long time developing it (the console versions first came out in 2013, it's now 2015)

If it runs well it's already the "definitive version" by default.

Also: What's wrong with the AA? And did you expect them to re-do all of the assets? Who does that?

im sorry but until it has all the content the consoles have at the time of release then it will not be the definitive version also just for your information the PC version is not a port from the consoles it's been developed by a separate division of rockstar, at 4k AA ie jaggies should not be noticeable yet plenty of these screen shots have plenty of jaggies also AF is bad as textures not so far away are blurry and not due to DOF, sorry but calling a game definitive just because it can run at 4k does not make it definitive at all, it would have to have something all the other version don't have!

So better image quality and better performance don't really count for anything, huh?

Unless it's a terrible port, this will be the best version of the game. And there's very little aliasing in these images.

Improved performance is what the other platforms "won't have." And just because a separate team is making the port, it doesn't mean that it's not a port. The idea that they'd have entirely new assets is just silly.

Broken how?! I played the X360 version to death and I can't even remember a single bug in the game - from single player mode.

The game is a port of a cross-gen multiplatform console game from 2013, you can't expect it to look like Crysis 3, Ryse or The Order 1886.

Plus, if low resolution textures bother you that much, just wait for the PC community to release a high resolution textures pack to buy it.

I have AF defaulted to 16x on all games. Also I am not sure why you seem so offended about calling it definitive version.

There is absolutely some AA in these screenshots, and resolution contributes to image quality. I don't game at 4K, but 1440p is already a pretty nice upgrade over 1080p. An increased pixel count allows you to see more detail in any given scene. Especially in the distance. And with just a little AA, you'll see fewer (and smaller) jaggies. Even without better textures, these screenshots already look better than the PS4 version.. or do you disagree?

I mean.. a lot of PC games improve image quality over their console counterparts using exactly the same textures. It's perfectly possible. If you simply focus on the close-up details instead of looking at the whole picture, sure, the textures look rough. And sure, I'd love better textures too.

Also: super sampling!

You, so you reckon they are going to delay a game, that is essentially previous generation, so that they can rebuild everything again, and re-do some native 4k textures? I think you need to come back down to planet Earth for a moment and think about that.

Look @ screenshot 13. The head, hands and weapons look nice and high-res. But the clothing looks like it was imported straight from the ps3 version 0n0'
My only explanation aside from performance is that those part a viewed close up in fps mode.

Aah wel , just wait for a enb mods and shit :p

Please, take your pick from which pipe dreams of high resolution textures packs on this list based on game, version or category.

Don't "ever" underestimate the PC modding community, specially the Grand Theft Auto and Bethesda games' communities, they have made miracles over the years and no other modding communities are more passionate than they.

There are even mods for the X360 and PS3 versions of Grand Theft Auto V - including textures, animations, car handling and etc. Not posting a link because the one I found with a comprehensive list is in a Pirate forum, but you can Google it if you don't believe.

Also of note is an offline split-screen mod that a NeoGaf user made for the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 in less than 12 hours:

So... can you imagine what the whole Grand Theft Auto modding community will create in a few weeks, months or in a year from the release date of Grand Theft Auto V on PC?

Perhaps not, since it's even a pipe dream to make a high resolution textures pack...

All top shelf quality stuff too!

There are literally thousands of terrible texture packs. Retexturing an entire game is a lot of work.

Moreover, Rockstar won't release an SDK for this game. GTA4 mods are "hacks" and most of them aren't really that functional. Unofficial texture packs mostly suck. Assume nothing.

I removed that statement because it's not necessary. And now you're comparing shader injection to re-texturing the game. Good stuff.

I looked for some screenshots of the "ultimate texture pack." It's not impressive. I love mods, but it's very rare to see a complete texture pack that's.. well.. good. Not a single surface, object, or scene--a whole game. And why would we talk about hypotheticals anyway? That's the problem here. It's stupid to assume that you're going to get better textures from the community.

Your experience with large texture packs may fill you with confidence, but that has not been my experience at all.. including games with much better mod support. Let's not forget that Rockstar is essentially anti-mod. Some GTA4 mods are pretty impressive though.. especially in the absence of official tools.

And ENB is doing all the heavy lifting in those pretty screenshots.. and no ENB for DX11/GTA5!

I personally think that most mods for GTA 4, especially texture and shader ones, are off. What I mean by that is that often modders neglect the original art direction and just think that by slapping some ultra-realistic (or just hi-def images) on everything equals a better looking game, cause it's, well, more realistic looking. What I find is that all this does is to serve up a game that looks washed out and grainy. It just looks wrong. Those ENB mods are hacks that do nothing but exaggerate things like the high dynamic range. It blows out the whites, crushes blacks, and destroys the games art style. I don't like them. The thing I look forward to most in modding this game will be the model swaps. I've a few of my own ready to go.

Resolution definitely makes the game looks sharper and thus the IQ is much better. The assets used by dev can make it look much better than you think. I remember when I used to game on PC 800*600 and then in high res. It definitely makes the difference. Having said that 4K resolution even 2K for next gen of console should not be the criteria. TV manufactures just went overboard with the resolution stuff

That's like.. every texture pack in every game. That's why I refuse to assume that the community will "fix" the textures. The vanilla experience is usually better. It would take a team of artists (with an art director) to do a consistent re-texture of the game. That's a huge undertaking.

And ENB is a thing that produces awesome screenshots. Has anyone actually played GTA4 with ENB? :P
