The first Halo 3 TV ad is finally available, and here is a mirror for those who couldn't see it on xbox.com. Mixing live action and computer generated images, the clip is frankly impressive, even if we can't wait to see real footage of the game.

a FMV teaser trailer showing next to nothing of the actual game and even isn't rendered using the ingame-engine!? pretty pointless to me!

also, compared to the short Halo 2 teaser trailer this is lame.

Very cool trailer. It may not be in game but it gives hardcore halo fans something to discuss. There were only Brutes in the group of enemies that he charged, which keeps the question of what the Elites will end up doing, and you can hear Cortana's voice when the Chief is standing up after putting his helmet on. The shield grenade I doubt will be an item ( it could be but it seems like the kinda thing that would cause balance issues), but it'll play some roll in the game probably. The grenade itself is probably Forerunner, its not very Covenant like in nature and I really doubt its human.

yeah but if it was done in game it would just make the game itself feel cool like that, but instead its just like a movie..but yes very cool indeed, i hope that kind of action will be found during actual gameplay ^_^

I think WEGA had a hand in the trailer showing some stuff off, it wasnt impressive as far as CG goes by WEGA standards...but I would bet its partly for the movie as well as the game.

Weta wasnt involved with this. I really dont think it has anything to do with the movie, especially since the movie has been put on indefinite hold

It's Weta, guys. And they were not involved in this indeed, the CGIs have been done by Digital Domain (the matrix trilogy).

Not ingame blah blah... but this is a very exciting commercial. Gave some hints about the game (seeing rifle on the back which we already knew, the helmet as a tip to the special bonus pack, the knew shield grenade, kind of the scope of the battlefield, etc). Most game commercial stink... this gone gave a great idea of WHAT Halo was about. Kudos.

The funniest part is a lot of people will still believe this is what the actual graphics in the game will be like :)

Such an insanely cool video. The moment he started doing that sprint it looked so damn cool its setup in such a way that its almost as if there is more significance to him taking off like that than most would believe.

That shield... man it just looked so damn incredible. Could the shield doors we've heard about in the multiplayer also be capable of being used, but as portable grenades? I think the shield we saw and the shield doors in halo 3's multiplayer are one and the same.

Im not the biggest Halo fan, but I gotta admit that was pretty cool....even if it wasnt realtime. That shield was awesome, it would be great if they could get it looking even close to what was in the trailer.

mkk316 I've seen many games with a similar effect (not looking that good of course, but that was on systems far lesser than the 360)

I think they'll be able to pull off the look to great success even if it doesn't look that amazing.

Nonetheless this is one amazing trailer the hype for this game is going to be through the roof.

I just re-watched the Killzone PS3 trailer, and I realized how unimpressive it really is. This ad puts it to shame, and it's using in-game assets!

So if you guys don't remember MC already has a shield, you know that bar that replenishes after you remove yourself from being shot. that looked to be a type of grenade anyway. we all know the x button is just going take his helmet on and off(or remove solid waste from his suit)
