Bungie is happy to announce that Halo was released five years ago, and as a way to mark this birthday they also announced that a public beta of the multiplayer part of Halo 3 would be available next spring, along with some Xbox 360 only multiplayer maps for Halo 2. Also a brand new trailer will be shown on ESPN on December 4 during "Monday Night Football". And the cherry on the cake: a brand new image of Halo 3!

I don't get it. Why not release the trailer on the same day as the launch of the PS3 in North America? What so special about Dec 4th?

There are going to so many PSfanboys who are going to be in the "have not" club with less than 250,000 units expected as a total for 2006. While the have nots are sulking the Halo 3 trailer could be blazing across all gaming sites and forums.

They should of aired it during the super bowl and rose bowl, but eh w/e. Can't really complain

why in gods name would you want bots, every game ever to use has proved that there either to good (sixth sence *cough*splinter cell*cough* or just lame AI wise

bots are nothing but this thing that people ask for but never EVER use.

The bungie update says CGI only and is being made by a third party developer or something. Not at all excited about this one.

Screenshot looks like it is trying to hard to look like the Trailer. Too much PDZ style gloss. Hopefully it will improve a lot.

The trailer is supposed to be CGI, but I am sure it will be awsum. Bungie is teh elitz0r at promoting their games. The PR-guys at Bungie must be some maniac from NASA or something. Really looking forward to what they have to show.

Why do I have a feeling they will charge for that beta?

Ohyeah, it was that MS survey not to long ago in which they also asked how people felt about paying to play beta-test versions of games..

Hopefully my feeling is wrong..

I hope that pic is from multiplayer. I'm not gonna lie to myself, I thought it was from Halo 1 or 2 when I first saw it. Yea, yea yea not finished right right right, but still, I don't want to see it like this. A CGI trailer? Ugh. What is MS trying to do? All this unappealing stuff on Halo 3 right after Gears, are they trying to get me to hate Halo? I'm going into Halo hibernation until November 2007.

A CGI trailer? That's pretty poor for a game that's been in development for quite a while, they should be showing us proper footage now, CGI trailers are good when a game has just gone into development and the developers want to show the idea and direction of the game but we don't need to know that with this game, not really bothered about it now.

Simply put is because i like bots, they're a plus, an extra, extras don't hurt, if it's not broken, it needs more features.

As for charging for the demo, i bet my left nut it'll only be available for Gold subscribers for the first 2 weeks.
