Trailer Xbox 360

This new video was captured from the game’s alpha build and gives us a first glimpse at Halo Reach multiplayer beta. You'll be able to access the beta in two months through Halo 3: ODST.

They have certainly improved it dramatically in terms of visuals and animations. Considering the fun is granted in this new Halo, I believe it might be shaping to be the best Halo yet.

:/ Well that video just confirmed to me that Bungie will not be putting more effort into the game's visuals. The gameplay looked fun, but it honestly looked like it could have been DLC for Halo 3. I saw a tuck and roll, and I saw a jet-pack. It's going to be hard to get used to the lack of the iron-sight that I've grown to love in the Modern Warfare games. This will be the second Halo game that I probably won't purchase on day one. Hell, I didn't even buy Halo ODST. I know no one who even has the title. What do you think guys? It looks a lot like the same. Let's stop being fanboys for a moment, ok. I'm not bashing the game, I'm just saying what most of you are already thinking. Oh well, we still have the single player gameplay to look foward to, I guess. I'm also looking foward to the game's multiplayer system being ruined by the cheaters who exploit the game's faults. I sometimes get the feeling that they aren't faults at all, and that Bungie intentionally put's some glitches into the games to cater to cheaters. Cheaters are a large demographic.

Seems most people these days just care more about the online gaming then the single player campaign :(

I really don't care about Multi Player and it bores me a lot that they just concentrate mostly on that aspect !

How times changed !

Nice to see that someone feels the same as I do. I think the multiplayer game should take the backseat to the single player game this time around. Everyone knows that the multiplayer portion will be fun anyway, so I don't think Bungie should skimp on the story this time around. Afterall this game is supposed to tell us more about Halo than we've ever known. Take me back to that alien world that I saw in the first game. I could almost smell the grass, trees, and mountain air. Yes, it has become nostalgia now after ten years. Sigh.

Agreed on all accounts,I hate the direction videogames are taking with this multiplayer stuff, give I good solid long single player game thats all I want,as for multiplayer is cool and all but it should be like a bonus only not teh main focus.

Looks nice if this would Halo 3. I loved Halo 1 and 2, but since Halo 3 i can only describe the developers as lazy.

Not sure what the MP griping is about, according to the first vidoc they are making the single player wide open like CE was, I'm guessing it will be the best game yet since CE.

The graphics certainly look a LOT better than Halo 3, and the action looks as intense as ever. I love the new effects they added to the sticky grenade, that really looks great.

I'm just picturing Optimus crapping his pants and passing out after watching that.

My only gripe is that the jetpack thing might get really annoying? guess we'll see when the beta arrives.

I've seen the vidoc, and I liked it to degree. Something was still missing though. I'm afraid that if we give Bungie too much praise, they will indeed continue to be lazy and not earn our hard earned dollars. It seems like everyone is making advancements in the fps genre except them. It's hard to believe that ODST and Modern Warfare were released in the same window. I don't know what Bungie was thinking. I am entitled to my own opinion.

Looks like Halo 3 with more detail to be honest.

Guns look way more detailed than Halo 3. Player models didn't look much better. And the indoor environments didn't look much better either. Outdoor and the lighting, particle effects, and environments looked better though.

But most of the video game sites who have seen it first hand say it looks way better than Halo 3. They go as far as to say it'll be the best looking game on the 360 when it comes out.

So, I don't know.

You're rating an expansion alongside a ful scale sequel..why?

To be honest i don't know how you can accuse Bungie of being Lazy. Where do you think Reach has come from? they didnt just start making it the passed few months..it's been their main focus since Halo3.

Fact is you don't know what new things multiplayers bringing to the table over what was offered in Halo 3, or the improvements placed over the finished product, untill it's in your hands. You're basing your opinion on a gutt reaction to visuals..remind yourself it's a BETA, not a demo, not the finished product..which wont hit for another 6 months after the beta.

I really hope they place a firefight mode in there.. and this time have it with matchmaking.

I don't agree with him at all, especially in terms of MW2 moving the genre forward, but it's sort of a fair comparison. You can't just call ODST an expansion without it sounding like an excuse, mostly thanks to the decision to charge $60 for it. That may not be bungie's fault, but it certainly tarnishes ODST's image.

Looks a lot better to me. Seriously, some of you guys are too jaded. I'll take any Halo game over MW any day. Bungie is always ahead of other devs, especially in multiplayer, imo( well, maybe not DICE, but that is waay different). Nice to say there is nothing new when you've never played it :P I for one am seeing a TON of new stuff, and of course it's going to look similar...

true, the price was nothing but exploitive.. at the end of the day though it's Halo 3: ODST - the get out clause is always in the title.

I just hope microsoft dont try to pull off a simular move Activision did with MW2.. and raise the rrp a fiver cause they know it's going to sell

Yeah, graphics are always everything in games- remember how incredibly Killzone 2 played? Er, um oh yeah, I wanted to break my controller...

Well the graphics are ok and even nice on some scenes.

Seriously, even Modern Warfare 2 looks like COD3 or so. Cheap textures, super linear, super small environments in campaign etc. just some more effects and more polys on the characters and that was it. The game evolved in multiplayer only, too.

Bungie is not the only developer who stopped at a certain point....

The gamemode here (Invasion) looks fun.

at first glance that footage is always going to be disappointing..probably mainly because the single player stuff they showed recently was so good, and the 3rd person camera of the action in this vid doesnt flatter it as much as the first person footage interlaced.

I think if you pay attention to the gameplay segments in the vid it looks very crisp, and alot cleaner than Halo 3 looked.

Bungie have also recently spoke about how theres a few surprises in the multiplayer.. i wouldnt lose faith in them just yet for not offering something innovative to the series.. they've not let us down before with their full releases.

It's a shame that certain fanboys will condemn the game as worthless no matter what though

This engine was supposed to be the pinnacle of the X360.........

Built from the ground up for X360 hardware and only X360 hardware with an unlimited budget. Meh I don't buy the X360 hardware is superior in the console race anymore.

And where did you read that Thors book of lies? this is the same Halo 3 engine only it has had most of its components re-coded.

Once again Halo MP will be unmatched cant wait to see what other features are to come.

Wow i got excited, maybe it's time to get a Xbox 360 again, Alan Wake and this are sure worth it.

I really like the new gameplay elements, graphics look ok, pretty much Halo 3 with bigger scale and more going on but honestly i don't care if the mp is as fun as it looks, looks really bad ass.

i just hope they dont do what they did with Halo 3.. sell it to me as a 16player online game, and then bring out dlc that denies me 16player matches, gamemodes, and the maps that support them.. unless i invest in the dlc.

It's bungies/microsofts dlc practice that is the only thing giving me second thoughts about picking this up day 1..rather than waiting to get it cheaper.

Just about everything looks leagues better. Textures, lighting, particle effects, character detail, animations. The game looks slick as heck.

The only thing that's the same is the style. People see the signature halo art direction and think it looks like more of the same. But if you have a critical eye, the upgrades are pretty obvious.

In any case, I'm looking forward to the beta. Not sure how balanced the new armor abilities will be (although I love the dynamic of choosing between sprinting or cloaking or a jetpack, etc. - all of which will likely require recharge time after being used) . . . but honestly, ironing out the balance is exactly what betas are for. Bring it on.
