Maybe they're going for a redemption round?

Played and finished the single player campaign when it went free for a week-end on Steam and all I could think was "meh". You could tell the game was a Frakenstein-ized version of what the original game should have been with the original developer at the helm. Also one of the few Cryengine games that doesn't look great.

Why?
This was probably in development before the game shipped. And I guess the overlords though the cost of finishing it and getting whatever amount of money they get is better than just cancelling it.

This also seems to be kind of a game where, especially after the technical issues were ironed out, has its fan base. And developers through PR have been very sensible and honest, and won some support that way.

I'll pick up the "GOTY" edition of this on a Steam sale for sure. No rush, whenever that happens.

About the game

Sdarts The Witcher games - and books - aren't perfect, but nothing is. For what they are and what they have accomplished, I thank both the author and the developers from the bottom of my heart. (7 minutes ago)

Sdarts And it ran for years under the radar of almost everyone before the anime, then it suddenly became an enourmous worldwide success. In a way, the same happened with The Witcher books and the games. (9 minutes ago)

Sdarts @Megido: Just because certain works aren't very popular doesn't mean that they aren't great. Take for example Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), the manga is even better than the anime. (9 minutes ago)

Sdarts @GriftGFX: English. And also listened to them in English. Same with Game of Thrones' books. (10 minutes ago)

Sdarts Although the games' writing isn't at the same level as the books', it's still far, far, far vastly better than 99% of the writing in games, movies, TV shows and books. CD Projekt RED did an epic job. (10 minutes ago)

GriftGFX @Sdarts: Cool.. what language did you read them in? (11 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts @GriftGFX: From someone who read and even listened to all The Witcher books before playing the games. The books are on par with The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter books imho. (11 minutes ago)
