The Silent Hill masquerade from the looks of those masks.

People are making such a big deal about this game but it looks so much like Bioshock with some added gimmick abilities...
I think it's getting over hyped

It does have the spirit of Bioshock, but the game is no carbon copy of Bioshock at all. The thing is that almost any game resembles another game. But I would rather have Bioshock inspired games than CoD inspired games e.g.
You could consider it as a new genre of games, instead of a copy from 1 game.

Maybe from looks, but on gamplay side it's more akin to immersive Sims like Deus Ex where there's a lot of choice and emergent stuff which Bioshock itself is inspired by. Plus Bioshock is not the first game to have a period setting, and steampunk is rare in games.

Same. WAY more like thief. It has abilities similar to plasmids in bioshock, and a multi-aproach similar to deus ex but really, when was a game that was similar to 3 awesome games a bad thing? Hype is deserved imo.

Deus Ex to me is heavily story driven. A lot of it is conversation, or at least it was at one time.
This looks more arcade-y to me and less about the conversation and story.
Games focused on "cool" abilities and nice visuals don't interest me as much anymore as story and immersion do.
It's probably also problematic that they keep showing the same damned game play every time.
Hey guys guess what, I don't care that you can assume the role of a pre-determined fish you've placed in the level.

Did they tell much about the story in Deus Ex HR in their marketing? All I remember is showing a lot of gameplay and the themes of transhumanism. The same here, want to keep that close to their chest so personally can't judge that aspect yet.

I'm not expecting as good a story here, but would like to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm expecting an action game with some added powers they've been selling this game on the entire time.

It's a Arkane game. Sure this time around they actually seem to have decent artists and more important: animators, but their previous games were all average designed games wrapped around a cool gimmick. in the case of Dark Messiah, the combat system.

Combat is a gimmick now.

I have to agree. The gameplay videos look rough and the characters are badly animated, and it just doesn't look to be doing anything new. It has nice looking art but that's about it.

Arkane Studios only worked on the design and animation for Bioshock 2 so the to quote this guy ..

I see his point ... they only really worked on Dark M. and that Art F. game ... meh ... okay moving on ...

Yes this looks cool but there's something about it that I can't explain that's not selling it for me ... more on this later :D
