The misstake wasn't to don't upgrade the game as they did, the misstake was to decide to release the game for X360 in the first place. Square should have thought about this. Microsoft should have thought about this. They should have remembered Phantasy Star Online.
This game is huge and would take way too long to upgrade the graphics, Many fans of this series won't stop playing because of a new generation, so SE are releasing it for 360 and PS3.
MMO's aren't about graphics they are about gameplay and online comunnity.
If you don't like it, *or the look of it* then don't buy it ...
As Manager said it runs better on the 360 when you have 40-50 chracters on screen at once most PC's and ever PS2 would come to a holt..
The game just isn't as fun as other MMOrpgs, stuff you do feels like a chore and most missions I've played are long and boring. I'd rather play Guild Wars, WOW and even the Matrix Online over this game any day.
I played the Beta and it was a waste of time in the end for me, in fact everyone I used to play with stopped playing the game cause they agreed with me. And even if I liked the game I'd never buy it and play it often cause of the subscription.

If you don't put much into FFXI you won't get much out of it .. WOW on the otherhand is a game that you don't need to put so much effort into but really has no story or purpose.
SE could do with adding more content for low level players ..
Yea i agree as a low level player FFXI can be very boring, but once you get to level 30 it gets more fun.

The game was fun for a bit for me (had 5 level 75 jobs) but after a while it feels a lot more like a chore or job rather than a game where you are having fun.
The game looks great for an update of an existing game.
Instead of all you guys whinning over the game..think of the concept behind it.
THIS IS SQUAREENIX! and they released one of their most successful games for the XBOX 360!!!!!!
Final fantasy 11 for the xbox360 is just squareenix's testing game of the console's potential..they obviously released this game to see if it's worth spending time and money in creating new games for it..since xbox was a failure..
Because of the reaction held by FF11's demo and how people are embracing xbox360 more than they did xbox in japan..square is taking notice on it more..and tada! we have Sylph!
You guys should appreciate what we got! this is amazing..final fantasy on xbox360..hell this could mean we might even have final fantasy 13 ported over on xbox360..or better yet a final fantasy game solely for xbox360.
An RPG.
It may be a good RPG, but the other arguments here hold much water.
(i.e, yes it looks like doo).
I don't know, maybe you're right, this endeavor may lead to greater things, but I'd rather think it's a cash in, or experiment.
take out the "Square Enix", and "succesful", and what do you have?

we wouldn't shell out our hard earned cash and money on a console that might be doomed to failure..we might only do that on a console that guarentees huge sales and profits.. SquareEnix doesn't want to ignore xbox360..it has potential and they can see it..
They are just showing their support and just saying " if you do good..we will make games for you..epic ones"..
But this is never the less, great news..SquareEnix on xbox360..wow..one of japans biggest companies..so big they're games are system sellers..and they were sony's exclusive last gen! this is great anyway..the future looks bright for xbox360 and square.
Every short comming that this game has can be blamed on the way they developed it--they made this game for the PC--with the PS2 in mind..and then ported to the Xbox 360..and that is quite a handy-cap for a "new" game to have.
It is fun though, and the art direction is fantastic (my favorite FF art..Square should fire every artist except Amano)..but it doesn't look great for an update to an existing game--because really--it doesn't look updated.
