Though one thing I feel developers need to tone down is in trying to make some such games feel all cinematic and filmy. Games should be great in there own right, there is no need for "hyper" sounds and matrix slow-mo moves.
This was one of the things I found annoying in Splinter Cell. Even in doing stealth moves there was the big WA-CHING! sound to notify you have an execute move.
