Xbox 360

The role-playing and strategy games (SRPG) finally arrive on the Xbox 360 with Apocalypse: Desire Next from developer Idea Factory. I think they are stuck in the Super Nintendo era. Come on, just check these sprites, even Nippon Ichi is doing better this generation!

It doesn't really look like a "serious" game, I mean it would be better if it's going to be on Arcade :D

Thing is not only are the sprites bad but the hand drawn stuff isn't very good.

Honestly, except for the textures on the landscape this looks like a PS1 game. And the afore mentioned textures look like something from the release lineup of the PS2. I'm not against 2d or anything and if this is a title intended for xbla it looks alright but...nah, come on!

Come on. This doesn't look that bad. Sure, not the sharpest sprites we've seen, but in general I think it looks good. Nice and cosy.

The genre (SRPG) is probably not my thing, but graphically, this deserves better feedback.

You guys are a bunch of brain-washed graphics whores even the TC. This game runs in the same vein as other games like FFT, La Pucelle, Disgaea and so forth, none of which push the graphics even for hardware of that time. The sprites aren't drawn any better either. They're all just a bunch of super deformed character running around. What is important is that the graphics are CLEAN and that's all it needs to be to do the job.

We're lucky to get this on the 360 and the first thing anyone can do is moan and whine that xbox is, *gasp*, getting lots of different games from lots of different companies with lots of different budgets! Honestly, Blim needs to bring aboard more professional people who will take a game and take everything into consideration rather than have a one-track mind like the rest of the 360 kiddies that infest this site.

I'm sorry but this isn't Disgaea level here. Its below that. The 360 is getting a decent amount of SRPGs, no reason not to be honest and say this isn't up to standards.

And STRPGs don't have to look like crap either. Gladius was decent and Front Mission was good.

I don't think a lot of Japanese developers understand why we spent $400 to $600 on new consoles, I mean I love good hand drawn sprites as much as the next guy but come on at least throw a little talent into it. Even if it's an Arcade tittle it really is under whelming.

You know, I can appreciate the game, but frankly, they can do better on the 360. Just put it on the PS2 with these graphics! I'll still buy it! There's simply no reason to put such low quality sprite work on the 360. It's completely unnecessary.

I didn't even think it was possible to make a 2d game look this bad on 360 hardware.
Hell, I've seen better looking RPG Maker games than this.

Agreed! look at Disgaea 3, it will probably have slightly better visuals than this... but it will kick major a$$! One of the major reasons I'm getting a PS3 now ;) (Shh, don't judge me). But then again... I wish they'd create models such as Odin Sphere now for sprites... or make them alot sharper =P
