Images of Bioshock

Images of Bioshock

2K Games released these three images from Bioshock, to be released around June. It was recently confirmed on the official website that the game is single-player only (surprise!), but also that a new in-game trailer will be released in less than a month - we can't wait.

Screens never wowed me with this game (neither does this one), and though the gameplay footage I've seen probably isn't one of the most impressive games technically, but it's just so atmospheric, so intense and creepy, and that's what makes this such a beautifull game.

Also, the setting and the story seem very promising and the upgrade system just finishes it off making it one of my most anticipated titles of 2007..!

You know why it looks like that?

Screenshots especially direct feed ones always look significantly worse than the game. I'm positive when we see gameplay footage running at a great framerate concerns will disappear.

Well yeah, but they are still pretty low-poly. Not that it matters though (thanks to their nice high-poly, baked 3d normal maps). Yeah, and we already know it looks great in motion anyway (you know the vid).

This game always looks great. I really hope this game isn't short though. I REALLY hope it isn't. I'm definitely looking forward to this game.


One more thing. They need to add more looping animations to the "idle gun" sequence. In that one long video, there was only ONE and it was way too obvious. It needs to be more natural, and there needs to be more than one. Also, the gun-bob needs to slow down when walking at a slower pace, instead of always flopping all over the place, unrealistically. Granted, these obvious problems may have been due to the fact that the video was early. But, you know…

Sometimes I think you are getting payed to say this stuff.

Polygons and texture resolutions aren't going to increase while running on my 360. It's not a magic graphics box. What you're seeing in these screens is what the game actually looks like.

and how U axplane good textures on walls and all architecture, but not chars???

They won't increase, but they will be less noticeable in motion. Not that this game really needs any defense as it is gorgeous and oozes atmosphere.

What are you talking about? The walls look bad as hell!

All screens look bad compared to the full game. Look at ANY screenshot of a game you owe... I promise you, it'll look horrible in comparison. Unless the description has HD Quality advertised all over it.

I guess they don't want to use too much money on capturing screens, or maybe the sites don't want high quality images filling their servers....

So it's not that the 360 is a "magic box", it's that the images are poorly captured or compressed.

Well, the graphics do look a tad different than before. I won't complain though, but the walking septic tank does look a little low in the poly department. I won't judge until the game is in my box or a demo is released on the marketplace.

Schweeet! New enemies!, i was worried it would get repetitive looking at the same big daddys/littlesisters, splicers and bandage dudes(or is it boner dude? ;))

Looks really good, it has a consistent look. I'm looking forward to this if it'll be anything like system shock 2.

Those screens are slightly disappointing. The more I play GoW the more I notice the incredible detail it has. The upper torso of a character in GoW has more detail than the suit-man and first person weapon combined.

Bioware certainly are having problems with dressing up the old UT engine into next-gen glory. Perhaps there is an underlying gpu-draining effect that is not apparent in still shots, but in return there is an acute lack of parallax mapping, texture resolution, af and detail textures. Or maybe something as simple and overpowering as the lack of texture streaming in the old engine (one of the most important benefits in UE3/GoW)
