The action & rpg videogame Final Fantasy Versus XIII is presented through two new images. It is a completely independant title from the thirteen entry in the Final Fantasy franchise (by name - there are more) with a different cast of characters and a new art direction. This Playstation 3 exclusivity is scheduled for a 2008 release in Japan. I took the time to add some older images in case you did not see them before.

I believe it takes place within the same world as XIII, but the gameplay and story are different.

The annoying thing is, these pics are all probably from one 5 minute CGI sequence, as cool as it looks - this is all they've been showing us for about a year now?

i heard they want to make the game give you the sense of fighting ff7 advent children did.

They want to see if it's possible and are aiming for such a fighting system

for the first time ever im actually kinda excited by a final fantasy game....lets hope this one turns out good. artistically it looks nice at least. the idea of an action RPG kinda scares me a little tho. this could turn out as bad as the bouncer...lol. lets hope not eh.

Not really as interested in this one as FF13 since Nomura is so heavily involved.

this game is even more doomed than FFXIII. It will probably be canceled IMO

Versus definitely looks the better of the two so far. Much more dark, sort've like VII.

I'm pretty sure they're both set in the same world, it's just that we've only seen this one location so far. The main differences are storyline and gameplay.

Nope..both are set in different worlds, different universe (most likely to use the same names) but are both built around a common object which are the crystals.

The new images released were from the closed door megatheatre trailer that they showed at TGS...and a decent res no less.

I never get tired of seeing these images or those that of FFXIII itself. While I yearn for more info...I'm happy to see these.

I've already gave SE my bank account routing number anyways.......

The coolest part about Versus, is that they are looking for an action style RPG with no load times or zoning. A vast huge land that completely loaded and ready for traversing with no load times. In an interview, Nomura stated that the size of the castle is huge...and he wants every nook and cranny available for searching and the same goes for the outside walls as well.
