Xbox 360

Bioware released a new batch of images today, showing, as they've done the last weeks, the more action-like part of the game. It sure shows a different side of the game, I just pray that they've done it good. Don't worry about how Sheppard look, the devs have already confirmed that he looks different in the newest build, which this isn't.

Why is Bioware releasing bad images of ME now? If I was head of their PR department I would have fired the people in charge of releasing these images (and that other batch that looked atrocious). Its the second time they make the same "mistake". Are they trying to tell us something? TBH, if those other images (the orginal and amazing looking shoots) were massively doctored, then I would have preffered for them to keep them that way until the end. Hopefully, the quality of this images is due to some bad compression and also the lack of action pictured on them.

I agree (April fools is my hope) as you have to be pretty stupid to release these as marketing shots... Chris over on the Mass Effect site must be pulling out his hair as the shots he releases on the Mass Effect site are top nocth IE:

Yeah, they're pretty bland compared to what they've shown off even in demos. I really really hope those are just from very early builds of the games =P

no matter wat images they release you know its gonna look good wen u play it. but wat annoys me is we have 3 months left until release and they keep showing us the same damn pictures. give us somthing new like a picture of a city in the game. or maybe some pictures of other character classes besides the soilder. i want to see wat the adept class uses. i seen in the gameplay footage a year ago the adepts powers but that was a year ago and i assumed a lot has changed.

Just to be safe I'm assuming that the actual image I see on my monitor will rest somewhere comfortably between the two. Seems like the safest expectation. Still think it's going to be awesome looking though..

Ancient age of gaming that shows CG screenshots and then much worse in-game screenshots is gone. So many games proved that. When you play Mass Effect by the time it comes out expect that quality that was on a previous screenshots. For sure.

IMO Cliff B should not have mentioned like GeOW used 360 completly, because that made too much people to believe that GeOW is the best that 360 can show us.

Looks like something has gone wrong with the LOD/lighting engine. Don't most official screens have the caption bar at the bottom anyway?

its not that it looks bad, it just looks much worst than the screenshots they released before. I hope they are not cutting down on texture size because they realised they were too ambitious for Xbox360's power. Many games have done that.

Wow, I pray these are from an ancient build and not a huge downgrade as with the last batch of Bioshock shots. Wasn't this game just demoed for the press in 100% real-time a month ago? Or was that, as with the awesome last Bioshock video, the PC version?

Bioshock WAS NOT downgraded.(Check out Big Daddy trailer) Actually none of 360 games has been officially downgraded.

And most importantly, nor Mass Effect will be downgraded. If you 'claim' that this is a true form of Mass Effect, you are completely out of mind IMO.

Hey, these are pretty cool images. It looks like Bioware tried this game first on the original Xbox, and developed there. Then they moved the project to the 360, just like Kameo and other games. And the changes are massive graphically, from the xbox version and 360 version. Remember the Halo 3 multiplayer? It had xbox Halo 2 in-game assets, that's why it looks like halo 2 graphics.
