the lack of split screen kills this game for me.

Hmm, this is like wartime GTA, and GTA looks better (this coming from someone who finds gta looks awfull)

This game needs 4xAA, 720p with no AA looks so bad in open world games :(

You were expecting it to? I don't see how they could ever do split screen for an open world game like this. Lack of system link, however, is unforgivable.

I played the original Mercs after hearing how amazing it was, and was massively disappointed, I'm not particularly excited about this, especially as it's coming out at the same time as Saints Row 2. Although the region you have to explore this time does look a lot more interesting than the first games, as do the vehicles you have.

Exactly what I was thinking, especially after seeing the last shot.

The game looks WAY better in motion, than it does in stills, particulary vehicle sections.

it was originally said to have split screen by the developers. but it was scrapped later on. i didnt expect anything, i was told it would have it.

Haven't been following the game that much, but yeah, if they said it would then that sucks. Simply having system link would have been enough for me though. If a game has online capability, is it really so hard to allow for system link as well?

I just want to play with a friend in another room, we shouldn't need to be online to do that..

from what i've seen (gamespot: on the spot) online is teathered as well. you cant just split up completely (ala GTA4's free roam) you have to be within a kilometre of each other. which is kinda dissapointing. i would have liked it if one could do one mission while the other tackled another somewhere else. it kinda defeates the purpose of co-op, but i'd have liked the option.

without the option to just sit next to a mate on the sofa and blast people to hell over split-screen its just not worth buying.

From the videos i've seen it looks pretty stunning, especially considering the scope of the game. Plus someone who has played the final build says it is stunning. So basically, these screenshots don't do the game justice.

Yeah, from footage, looks stunning. Just the amount of stuff on screen with exploding buildings, vehicles, it's pretty impressive. Co-op will be insane.

From what I seen so far this game look like a pile of crap. Hopefully they will release a demo that will change my mind.

are you sure these are ps3/360 screens,they look more like ps2 screens.

because if seen live footage at gamespot and gametrailers and the game looks good.

Those screens are from the co-op mode. Just so you know...

Ehrm. Actually the game looks good. Yey, AA etc. isn't done very well but explosions, coop mode, destructable environments + the whole open world system is moren than just a "piece of cake" for a console. Remember a console has it's limitations in hardware.

I think you're all basing the game too heavily on screenshots. The first Mercenaries was ugly and didn't have co-op either, but it didn't matter, because those weren't the reason the game became so popular. Gameplay is where it's at, and if they can do it once they can do it again.

I don't think judging this game heavily on screenshots is a bad thing considering how bad this game looks. There's just no excuse for the game to look this way.

The game looks a damn sight better in motion, granted, it's no graphical showcase by any means, but it looks decent enough to me.

I just hope the performance is up to par and the pop-in is acceptable. The destruciton is cool, though a bit *understatement* cheap. Still, it looks like a lot of fun! That nuclear explosion vid I saw recently was pretty cool as well.

I remember the first one having some great controls, especially the chopper conrols are spot on! It felt really natural. Hopefully that'll still be intact and I'll have a blast! :)

Well it does look better in motion, but either way... even if it looked exactly the same as the first game I'd buy it, cause that was awesome and this is just bigger, better, more stuff and co-op. Graphics don't enter my decision at all. If they did I wouldn't be approaching 70 hours on EDF 2017 =)
