Images of Super Robot Wars XO

Microsoft put online these images of Super Robot (Taisen) Wars XO, looking special and Japanese. The series has lived for quite a few decades now, so it should be an honor for Microsoft to have it on its console.

Woah, it looks kinda retro. Love to see this moving.

1 word... RETRO :)

It looks like the work of the Robotech animators of the 80's. Those handrawn characters look very familiar.

There's a trailer on official site www.suparobo.jp/srw_lineup/srw_xo/movie/index.html.
Btw XO is remake of Gamecube's SRW game which some say is one of the worst in series.

Yes it looks retro. I just watched the video. I hope this is released outside of Japan.

Reminds me of old Grandizer cartoons I used to watch, when I was a kid.

This game looks like fun, but it will NEVER get to the US. So why bother talkin' trash bout it?

I dunno, SRW:OG 1+2 have made their way to the US for the GBA, maybe if there's proven interest in the series they'll move up to consoles :)

They feature a lot of anime mecha from the 80's. If I'm not mistaken the one with the 3 kids is Rajin-Oh.

Yep, that's the premise behind Super Robot Wars. Tactic battles between classic 70s - 80s series' mechs. Mazinger, Gundam, Ironman, etc.

<--- Sorry bout that, I pressed "quote" instead of "edit" ....

About the game

What's up?
  • Megido
Megido @GriftGFX: Doesn't that make DotA a team RTS with heroes? :P (0 minute ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX That gamasutra articles doesn't mention either MNC or DirtyBomb though. So I think we can agree that people tend to overlook gaps in the genre's history. This shit did not kick off with Battleborn/OW. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX OW and DirtyBomb are not MOBA-light games. They are team FPS games that have heroes. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX DirtyBomb did something that was at the time unique. You could not call it unique anymore. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Tinks: I know you think that. But they're not really the same genre. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX I could be wrong, but I think the first MNC really did just have classes and no overlapping roles. Think they added "pros" in the sequel. (5 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks some lean more moba, or more tower defense, or more shooter, but I think everything we're talking about is connected (6 Hours ago)
