Hmm, I thought that first game was not a commercial success... Nice to see the sequel though... might pick it up.

It sold pretty well, just not as well as it should have. Hopefully the release of the DS version will push the sales of this one more.

it wasn't a commercial success, but far from a sales flop... too complex for kids to play by themselves, maybe too kiddie looking ( 4Kids TV Show & all that jazz ) for some grown-ups, i guess.
But it's easy to see why this is a cheap sequel in the production aspect.
The bases are all built, just add extra depth, content, modes & fix the rough edges and there you go. New viva piñata ... why not? It's FABOLOUS!

i tried to get into the original, but i just couldnt due to the lack of missions/goals etc, i hate that, but this adds co-op, which should make it more fun even without objectives

Looks just like the first one. I hope it's more than just an addon with more pinatas and new gardens.

Never played the first one but comparing them by the pictures thisone looks like it has biger and more open environments which makes it look a bit nicer graphical.

People who complain about games that are "just for kids" are usually the immature ones. People who ARE mature tend to not care if a game has a childish tone. But considering the first one had a lot of ineuendo and adult humour, claiming it's a game merely meant for kids is a little ridiculous.

If you're a twelve year old Sony fanboy, may I suggest you try the Gametrailers forums? You'll feel right at home there.

what's wrong with more pinata's and new gardens? one of things we've all been asking Rare for IS more gardens

A must buy! That last game had so much depth!
Commented on 2008-06-26 12:05:18
It's a lot more than just an add-on, the Pinata's are a lot more interactive now, they can apparantly all interact with each other in new ways, and are a lot more interactive with the player, each one being able to learn tricks. The gardens are a lot bigger and can have themes applied now, like the pirate or grave yard ones we saw in some of the shots, and as well as the day-night cycle, there's a seasonal cycle, which includes weather effects. Oh, and of course there's drop in/drop out co-op, a free play mode, challenege mode were you have to solve a series of goals, and a camera tool for taking pictures of the pinata's and uploading them (and then hopefully exporting them onto your PC..)

A lot of the new species of Pinata's were obviously just meant to be downloadable for the first game, but there's certainly a lot more here than just an add on :)

I hope the garden is A LOT bigger this time.
Then I will buy it.

About the game

What's up?
  • Tinks
Tinks I didn't understand why he played so poorly either though. Subasic has been amazing the rest of the tourney. A big reason they won against Denmark and Russia (11 Hours ago)
  • Tinks
Tinks @MrWhite: I agree. Penalty like that shouldn't happen in a WC final. Croatia's keeper was screened for almost all of those goals, aside from the deflection (11 Hours ago)
  • nostradamus
nostradamus @Melmoth: oh god, that is amazing. the sounds and visuals are insane for a sim. (11 Hours ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @droezelke: For both them? Mbapp was 20 odd yards out. His positioning was shite. Should never have let that one past him. (11 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke If FIFA didn't object so long to get a VAR, the concept could have been bug-fixed 10 years ago. (12 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke @Tinks: The VAR is an exvellent tool, but the rules applied to the VAR are restricting them from intervening. Also, the hands-rule is so ill defined that it's completely open to interpretation. (12 Hours ago)
  • droezelke
droezelke Then the shot came and as he tried to correct to the right, he was leaning on the wrong leg and went out of balance. (13 Hours ago)
