Not 1 review on Metacritic yet. I thought the embargo is lifted today. Imo, not 1 reviewer should be forced to sign a timed NDA. It smells like corruption to me.

Embargo lifts at 2 p.m. CEST. Deciding of an embargo date has nothing to do with corruption. Every publisher has the right to decide when it's ok for reviews to pop out, especially when they're concerned about spoilers. No one forces people to buy games on Day One, so if you're unsure about a game, wait for reviews (from journalists or users). I can't wait to see what you'll say if the reviews are actually positive, because the corruption argument is usally brought up when it's the case, not before the embargo lifts. :)

What? I'm not thinking this game will be bad. I have no idea. I didn't say it was corruption. I said it smells like corruption. Let me further explain myself.
If it is the case that the dev or publisher only gives review copies to instances on the condition that they subscribe to an embargo (or timed NDA), then that is a means of leverage. That is ofcourse their right to do that. Let's put it in other words 'you get the game for free if you don't tell anyone what you think of it until we say so, else you will have to buy the game on release date and you won't have a review on release date and nobody will care what you think, because your opinion will be too late'.
The argument of 'we are concerned about spoilers' is non-sensical. If the reviews pop up on release date, they don't care about spoilers anymore? Or in this case a day before release. I think reviewers hardly ever spoil important story elements.
To be absolutely clear: I don't think Gamersyde is biased at all. This is my favorite gaming site. So I would never accuse you of corruption unless there is clear evidence.
My point was: reviewers shouldn't be pushed to agree to an embargo by holding free copies (and in some cases free goodiebags).

I understand what you mean now, but not sure corruption is the best word.

I also find it odd to hold back reviews because of spoilers, and I don't really know if it's the case. The responsibility of a reviewer is to respect his audience, so spoiling the story would make no sense. I never thought you were implying we were biased, I just didn't think it made sense to say that the choice of the embargo date was meant as a means of leverage. Reviewers do indeed get the game for free, but they also get the chance to let people know if they think it's worth it, because they're the only ones who'll have completed the game by the time the NDA is lifted.

I can understand why it can be frustrating or why it may even seem a bit fishy to those who have pre-ordrered the game, because they won't be able to cancel their purchase now, but again, I think today people should know better and wait if they"re unsure.

YouTubers are already talking about it, saying the game is good.

That's way too conspirative. Reviews have worked like that forever, and that didn't save bad games to receive low reviews. Many reviewers are fanboys or biased and that can't be changed easily. What I don't agree with is when there were "exclusive" reviews, where a site could skip the embargo in agreement with the publisher, but the rest is just fine.

Said this, this game looks like another rare case where the user reviews are much higher than the reviewers. Looks like it's a good game, just not most people's cup of tea.
