Infamous Second Son images

Launch games aren't the only important ones for Sony, as proven by this new batch of inFamous: Second Son images. It's important to note that we got these images in 3840x2160 resolution, and like all supersampled images won't exactly represent the final image quality of the game.

They don't look like supersampled images to me.
More like naturally rendered at 1080p -> upscaled to 4k and then downscaled to 1080p again.

there is pretty clear aliasing in some of the images. which i'd say where native...but then there are others (the last on in particular) that are clean as hell. i know the game is pretty damn crisp, but not THAT crisp.

the hands-on sounds awesome. need to see more of this in motion. even if it's just some free roam gameplay.

I have been very tempted to get previous infamous games, but somehow it has never happened. I think this will be a definitive day 1 for me.

Nice graphics and powers...thats all positive things i can say about it lol

Both Infamous 1 and 2 did nothing for me, found them boring a few hours in and i stopped, not gonna make the same mistake with this one.
Fun powers but how it controls and how its used i found it to be not for me.

If there was a demo for the game on PSN when PS4 comes out, i will definitely give it go, its free so why not.

Havent they been using the same engine as Uncharted? Seems like with more horse power they are able to achieve Uncharted levels of graphics and unlike previous games, with out having to downscale the open world versus quality. This had a good buzz around it at E3 so im interested in it, just have to beat the 2nd one first.

tbh alot of open world games i find very boring, i loved both infamous games though, i liked the 1st assassins creed but the rest were bring as hell and i actually thing GTA is dull after 1 hr

I wonder why they chose to show the image of the main guy hanging onto the railing, when the object he's right next to looks like it fell out of a PS2 game. Textures that low-res have no place in a current gen, let alone next gen game.

See, I don't get this mentality. Just because a console will have 'x' amounts of additional power over the previous gen, it does not automatically mean every single aspect will take a jump exponentially. It doesn't work like that at all. You'll still get your usual mix of high end and low end assets no matter what. There will always be a budget, and there will always be a target.

I agree, while it's natural to nit pick graphics since you are paying $400 for a new machine it also can become a little unrealistic. That being said he does at least have a point that the wall the character is hanging on has remarkably low res. an odd choice to show off graphics.

It has nothing to do with budget. Textures are always authored at far higher than target resolution. Memory constraints dictate how many of those assets survive the transition unscaled. My point was that it's odd, peculiar even, to highlight very low res textures in a press pack.

There is always a budget and it has everything to do with it. You don't want your game running over a couple of hundred gigs, do you? Particularly in an open world game, which this is. Not every single building needs to have a super high res texture. In fact, really highly detailed textures aren't always needed at all. Depends on normal detail too. Maybe the wall just appears to be low detail because the diffuse is all you see? Maybe the wall is just smooth?

Seems like inFAMOUS is the best ps4 looking game at this point, not necessarily the most realistic looking one.
