They still make the best trailers. Loved the demo.

I'll probably wait for this to drop in price, there's too many other game coming in the next months.

I was pleasantly surprised by the demo. The engine is spectacular, with great lens effects, lighting, and particles.. and all at 60fps. The game managed to make the tired cover shooter genre feel a little less dead too, mainly due to the sheer brutality of it.

I was pleasantly surprised by the demo, it's got a really satisfying gritty atmosphere going for it, and kayne and lynch are fantastic "anti heroes"

The online is fantastic. I've not played many games where I've managed to collect over $1million, make it to the end of a level, get shot in the back as I'm entering a van, watch the traitor take my money and all the time I'm smiling my arse off.

Damn.

I was pleasantly surprised by the demo. The gunplay was sort of satisfying, probably largely cause of the camera perspective and I appreciate the ability to switch sides.
I was able to stand behind a wall and shoot a guy through the corner of the wall just cause I had the reticule on him. The bullets glitched right through a thick wall and my gun could pass through it too. That might mean people shooting at you that are behind walls completely. could be a problem for multiplayer

played the pc demo....its fucking awesome like your playing a snuff film.

Loved the idea of the online mode. Unfortunatly the connection was pure shit in 5 different games. Human enemies lag, NPCs lag and disappear just to pop out of nowhere in your face.
Played on PSN.

If you have the hardware, you should get this game on PC. The visuals are so much better. I played the demo on Xbox360 and PS3 (I see no difference) and on PC. On PC you have the same 'youtube'-filter which makes the game incredibly realistic, but you also have a very good looking game underneath that filter, while the consoles don't.

Too bad PSN+ doesn't mean better online. You get what you pay for.

'youtube'-filter
What? The filter they are trying to emulate is a cheap handheld dv camera, not some badly compressed youtube video.

I have played all three versions they are all pretty much identical except for a slight increase in texture quality in the pc version.

What you see is inspired on youtube movies (do some research).

"We're inspired by YouTube and user-generated content in general, and we're very inspired by glitches and mishaps you get when you record something on your mobile phone when you film stuff."

A slight increase in texture quality? If you want to know how the console-demo looks like while playing the PC-version: disable the setting 'sharpen' in the pc-demo. That's how the console version looks like. If you call that a slight increase in texture quality, then I ask myself what a large increase is for you.

The effects are all based on cell phone cameras and hand held cams. you can see home made vids on youtube but youtube is not known for these effects specifically, because yt does not cause them.
At the end of the day the influence came from the vids themselves.

does the pc version have AA? If the game was smoother that would help quite a bit.

Ofcourse the filters are based on the cell phone camera's and handhelds (at least the shaky ones). But the reason they did this, is because they were inspired by youtube (and others). They want to create the illusion that this could as well be youtube content (uncensored ofcourse ;o)).

About AA: Yes the game has AA and AF settings in the video-options.
But the most important setting is the 'sharpen' setting. That makes it look really sharp.

If you have the horsepower in your pc rig to play it all maxed out at 1080p or above, you'll see a very fine looking game.

Yeah, it's all good. One of my favorite parts of this game's effects is the censor box over an enemy's head when you get a headshot.

Unfortunately Id probably need to run it with low AA and at 1360x768. By sharpen do you just mean the texture detail?
Commented on 2010-08-01 08:38:59
From the looks of things (not having tried the demo), compared to the console shots it probably un-blurs the scene on the whole.

Texture detail itself would most likely be kept an option on its own.

I should probably try this thing out so I know what I'm talking about.

Does the v-sync actually help in this game? have you tried it set to off?
Commented on 2010-08-01 12:22:20
no but so far almost zero screen tearing with vsync on.

Well, I have 2 HD5870 cards in crossfireX and was getting around 45 fps. I first thought: another bad port. But for now just disable crossfireX and your framerate will go way up, trust me.

Tiz Judgement wasn't all bad though. Overrun is better than Horde and I wished if there was one thing the Coalition kept from Judgement, it was that. Instead of treating it like a horrid bastard child. (47 minutes ago)
