After staying under the radar for a pretty long while, Brendan McNamara's L.A. Noire is back with some new images. Team Bondi's first title is announced as a real adventure game where you will play the role of a police detective in charge of an investigation. The questioning of the suspects as well as the gathering of clues on the crime scenes will be part of your job and depending on how well you do it, the investigation will more or less progress. Very promising on paper, ambitious to say the least, we will still wait to see more of it before considering it as the next jewel in Rockstar's collection. After all, let's keep in mind that McNamara was the producer on The Getaway, which unfortunately did not live up to its promises at the time.

Looking good. This whole games success relies on nailing the atmosphere 100%. If they are even slightly off, it will screw the whole game. One of the most important aspects is going to be the dialog. They have to nail the way people spoke and the words they used at the time. If they dont, it will come out looking and sounding like a bad 'B' movie.

God bless them. Its got to be tough making a period piece.

disappointed that footage wont be shown this month at E3. Apparently it's going to have Mass effect style conversation wheels.

I'm currently playing RDR and Rockstars characters are so well written that a game of LA Noires premise really shouldnt disappoint

Between this and Mafia 2 I root for Mafia. R* games, while good, seemed to always lack something this generation that would make them great.

is R* even developing this? i thought it was that new studio made by some ex 'the getaway' guys? THAT is the reason i'm worried. the getaway series where some pretty poor games.

i really wanna see the facial animations in action, apparently they're freakishly real looking.

as for this of mafia. i choose this personally. didnt like mafia 1, and chances are i wont like mafia 2.

Seen those a while ago and I'm still kinda disappointed. It looks good and all, but from the old CG trailer I got the impression that the art style is also going to be black/white .. well noir.
This reminds me more of L.A. Confidential -type of noir.

These are clearly screengrabs from a video. I'd like to see direct feed pics.

The level/environmental design in these shots is far below the quality I expect from a Rockstar game, very underwhelming.

Looks interesting, it might be good, but it's hard to say at this stage.

Yeah, Team Bondi game. The Getaway franchise was horrible...

Funny how some folks got hyped for this, because they know it's a Rockstar game. lol

Rockstar is only publisher for this one.

If this doesn't have shooting and is an actual detective simulator game, it could be a revolutionary new direction.

And I love point-and-click detective games, so my cup of tea!

not a chance in hell this will be point and click. It will be like GTA/mafia...but with a ME conversation system..and hopefully some actual detective work. But you can expect plenty of shoot outs.

I'm really interested to see how they work the detective stuff.. it might be a case of asking the right questions, and freedom to research and solve clues you've choosen to pick up on. But..i have a feeling it will be more lead by the hand in order to push the story

Some pictures lack details. The first shot for example, the car etc all good, but the wearhouse in the background looks awful.

Yeah, Team Bondi game. The Getaway franchise was horrible...
i hate when people throw around the word "horrible" or "terrible" to describe a game they do not like. what makes The Getaway horrible may I ask? horrible is what Stalin did to his people, horrible is what Mustard Gas did to soldiers lungs during WWI, horrible is what it would be if Tom Cruise lost his strikingly good looks (no homo) but horrible is not what can be described as The Getaway. that game was entertaining, and though it got boring at times, for its time it gave us an open world sandbox game when consoles needed them the most.

it may have not been the best game, but it sure had its moments. seriously, horrible? give the people some credit, man.

It wouldn't be the internet if people weren't reaching for extremes to describe every little thing.

it had HORRIBLE controls, HORRIBLE driving model, HORRIBLE story, HORRIBLE voicework, HORRIBLE graphics, HORRIBLE performance. the game was a freaking disgrace. if there was ever a word to describe it, horrible would be the one.

Hehe true that. Obviously he was a troll, so doesn't deserve any answer for these s....

btw Sony cancelled The Getaway 3 for a reason. Good decision if you ask me. :)

Nope, his point is actually further enforced by the excess use of the word "horrible" here.
