Developer Diary PS4

Killzone: Shadow Fall being one of the first Playstation 4 titles to have been announced, it is no wonder it has become one of the most highly-anticipated games of Sony's next generation. Here is a first developer diary video to learn a bit more about this new installment in the franchise.

3 hopes for this

1. Its longer then killzone 3

2. It has a better story, with better characters

3. Multiplayer is more like K2

It's pre ordered either way. If only for the graphical splendour. Looking forward to it.

Did they say it has MP?

If so, then it will be broken I am sure. As long as Infiltrator/Saboteur class is in there and snipers can start with SMGs and AR weapons its bad.

The classes never bothered me, everything had a counter, much like team fortress. My issue was its progression and general feel. Was a bit too COD for my liking

Well not me, the class balancing was very bad, KZ2 was better, if only they didnt jinx the controller with such a horrible input lag and banned the thousands of Radec academy nonsense.

You know what sucks about MP? Rocket spewing assholes... also situations of cluster fuck zones where the entire team is constantly rushing in.. where someone with a rocket launcher camps... other then that it fun.

I had an adaptor to let me use my 360 controller for ps3, makes many games more bearable. Also the balancing and class system was a cluster fuck of a mess but i still did enjoy the gameenough to give this a chance. It was a decent balance between BF and CoD in my option

.... maaaan MP in Kz2 was so epic. I liked the whole set up they tried out in kz3 but they changed the class, ranking and spawn system in Kz3 too much for my liking ...

Remember switching classes to set up spawn beacons and trying to capture stations and flags? Shit was epic dawg and it was one of those games that you poured hours into without even realizing it.

The opposing team had the ability to swarm you just as hard you could swarm them so there seemed to be intense struggle between the two teams at all times - it was great!

When they took away the spawn beacons, and some other competitive elements in kz3 it just killed it for me ... ah well.

Dont forget choke points and spawn killing, it was absolutely obnoxious.

If one team gets enough players on the front of other team spawn, its over for them. They cant do shit other than start camping and shoot in the spawn direction and every start going with explosives.

Unbalanced, not fun whatsoever. KZ2 had this, KZ3 had it this some levels.

... you know watching this video and listening to the producers/devs promote sony and what not is all good but I wonder ... i just wonder how devs are going to really take advantage of these systems, their features and the dl services that come with them?

the idea that you can play the game, with its UI and the first level already downloaded with the second level dl'ing in the bg begs the mind to wonder if Trapcom (capcom) can finally build one fighting games that only needs to be updated with stages, fighters, and balancing tweaks - something like that would really re-invigorate my interests levels in games ... i just feel like its going to be the same ol and same ol and honestly I'm not interested in that any more ... whats' going to be new?

As with pretty much all consoles since the dawn of 3D, it'll be visuals, immersion, details, physics, AI, effects, particles, lighting, creating bigger, better and more believable worlds. That's all I want from a new console. But if you're chasing after innovation, that's what the Indies are there for. They may not push visuals or take advantage of the strengths of the platform, but they bring it in terms of original thinking. Hell, look at fez, retro visuals and mechanics even the PSone could handle.

Look at new consoles as a new graphics card for a PC, not a magical doorway into a world of new possibilities.

I'm a huge fez fan! :D Yes - more of that ... I guess in sight of what you are saying, I want big dev houses to take a note from the little guys ... I could give a flying monkey balls about particle effects when comes to remembering what I like about a game ... yes! I may say something like "remember the first time you stepped out into space in Dead Space 1 - it was beautiful" but I don't remember the game or laud about it for that sadly ... eye candy just seem vice grip in giant tool box filled with spanners

Yeah its fun to dominate and spawntrap through the entire match, but when you getting hammered by the other team...its not fun.
Well I for one am not into multiplayer games, I will try out this new MP for this game but I wont be playing that for long. Just more in curious direction than anything really.

You'll rarely ever see such things from big developers because the big games cost big bucks. That's why they Indies can get away with it, they're often pretty cheap to make with very few people to pay. Team ico are one of the closest things to big budget 'arty' innovative games. But sadly their latest seems like a no-show atm. Hopefully E3, but really, how many times have we said that.

That was one of the complains about PS3. Due to its complex architecture which they have addressed so I think that will be mentioned a lot on dev dairy.

That last comment that the fella makes in the video somewhat worries me: "I think the challenge is to make people forget that they are playing a game even more" or some shite like that. Why? Why would you want to forget you are playing a game? If anything, you want to know you are playing a game, not a fucking film or a pretty cut scene. Visuals for this looks nice, but it looks like the same shit, really. I said a while ago that if the next gen is going to be more of the same FPS overload, then they can stick it up their holes. Another KZ isn't doing it for me, thanks.

I like to feel I'm not playing a game but only because it has me so immersed into it. Cinematic action/gameplay makes you feel like you're not playing too but not in a gameplay way so it's hard to know what he refers to
