The foleys of Final Fantasy XIII

The foleys of Final Fantasy XIII

...well, more like "the" foley since this short video released on Final Fantasy XIII's official website only shows the recording of one single sound. The clip features a sound engineer shaking a metallic glove in synchronisation with a little excerpt of cinematic. Fascinating.

He's making part of the sound that the soldiers make when walking I guess. But I miss the footstep sound, they probably add that later on.

I absolutely loved the footsteps of Judges (and slodiers) in FFXII! It has some kind of weight or something, gives more realistic feeleing to it. Keep the good work SE.

Probably in their next video :p
lol. Its kind of a dumb video but I think its cool for people who like to do animation and things like that to know how they make all their stuff, since Square has probably the best, or most realistic 3d animation movie designing.

now where do i get myself a pair of armored gauntlets to make the sound for my movie....

OMFG they do this sort of thing for every movie and every sound! Damn it makes sense waiting all this time to get the game I guess. lol.

I think the example is rather unimpressive.
I’ve seen making offs from movies where the use “things” you would never expect to make that kind of sound. Using gloves of a fullplate to generate the rattling sound of armors is rather uninspired tbh.

yep foley artists and sound designers are wacky people. try and find info on how they made the sounds from the original star wars movies (lightsabers, tie fighters, etc...) crazy!

I don't disagree! :P

  • digi_matrix
digi_matrix Paranormal Activity was insane, totally deserves being the most profiting indie film ever made. I saw the original version, not the theatrical one. WAY BETTER! (5 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Nope, no such prestige I'm afraid. Just 1½ year of comic making and ICQ channel community on quakenet of all places. :) 2002 doesn't sound far back but it's soon 8 years ago. Time sure does roar past. (11 Hours ago)
  • Megido
Megido Did you make comics and stuff for kong back in the day? The art looks similar :) (11 Hours ago)

  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Thanks :D and yeah I do. M7 was originally a webcomic, and the idea now is to make it a bit of an entertainment blog in general and a webcomic. Only done two strips so far since I rebooted it in may. (13 Hours ago)

alimokrane @SimonM7: Dude That's amazing. Do u draw that stuff ?? (13 Hours ago)
