Square-Enix just sent us the opening cinematic of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the new installment in the Final Fantasy XIII series. The game will be released on February 11 in North America and just in time for Valentine's Day in Europe.
Amazingly well animated, produced and directed nonsense. Square-enix still are true masters when it comes to CG. but man, what a bunch of melodramatic, over the top garbage the story is.
Those characters we're boring years ago, and still are. Final fantasy games need to start mixing it up more! Seems like there are max five archetypes for character: brooding, cutesy, gentle, cool and angry. They just change the color of the hair, gender and the amount of belt buckles to differentiate them from each other.
So bad. So terribly bad.
Whom do they still want to impress with cutscenes?
FFXIII is definitely one of the most terrible game trilogies I have ever seen and put a stain so dark on the entire series that many will never even touch it (again). By now I just want Square Enix to vanish completely from the face of our planet.
I'm not gonna front, I'm actually excited for this game. It looks like they (Square Enix) added features fans has been asking for. Like going in town, and talking with folks for various mini-missions. Also, I'm likeing the new direction they're heading with Lightning.
