Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and KADOKAWA GAMES Bring Together the Sweet and the "Un-Dead" in Lollipop Chainsaw

Killer Heroine with a Chainsaw Fights to Stop Zombie Take Over in Suda51's Latest Masterpiece for PS3 and Xbox 360

London - August 1, 2011 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and KADOKAWA GAMES today announced a new partnership to bring Lollipop Chainsaw to gamers around the world in 2012 on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be publishing the game outside of all Asian territories

Lollipop Chainsaw is an all-new third person action game being developed by GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE, led by celebrated gamemaker Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) and featuring the musical compositions of the renowned Akira Yamoaka. In addition to these two talented individuals, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has tapped Hollywood director/writer, James Gunn (Super, Slither, Dawn of the Dead, Tromeo and Juliet) to bring his cult humour and edgy storytelling to Lollipop Chainsaw.

"Our exciting partnership with KADOKAWA GAMES allows us to try something new by bringing a very unique game like Lollipop Chainsaw to Western markets," said Martin Tremblay, President of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE's games have shown tremendous success with gamers around the globe and we are delighted to expand our portfolio of Japanese-developed games."

"We are looking forward to partnering with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on our first entry into the HD console market," said Yoshimi Yasuda, President of KADOWAKA GAMES. "We are also thrilled to have a team like GRASSHOPPER and talent like Suda51 creating such an interesting and distinct game for us to work with and bring to the fans."
Lollipop Chainsaw is the 'un-deadly' story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.

A westernized Oneechanbara? I'll allow it. Better the sea of crap shooters and sequels out there anyway

is it just me, or do all of the models look like they've been photoshopped over/on to the background...and done on a budget.

A girl with a chainsaw and a guy's severed head tied to her waist? SWEET!!!!

Loving the look of this.

Hopefully this game is developed with the PS3/360 in mind; and not some "port" of a wii game; like no more heroes: Paradise. The game is good but has written PS2 all over the place if you compare it with GOW3.

So you never watched Buffy the Vampire slayer???

Looks like a videogame heavily inspired by that and a bunch of other things as well as Japanese pop culture, though the girl is not drawn in an anime style... the only thing that makes me feel weird.

I get the same feeling, but it's the same when you look at MvC3's screens from up close. It's sort of looks like comic book graphics in a way. Now if you meant the picture with only zombies in it, well, it's clearly not in-game. And the first picture it's obviously photoshopped for marketing purposes.

  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX @Tinks: There are five epic skins. Those are always 99% texture swaps. Remodels are legendary and there are loads in the patch. (6 Hours ago)

MrWhite the door for devs to allow them to do what they want without worrying about that. Everything else will automatically get better, but thats the key overall. (7 Hours ago)

MrWhite Trico is massive. I felt like he was going to knock me over the edge a few times as he walked past. Great stuff. Shame about the teleportation, but fixing the motion sickness issue should open up (7 Hours ago)

MrWhite Imagine God of War 3 for a VR port. It'd be immense. The Last Guardian VR demo too was superb, but frustrating because it wasn't the full game, but showed it can work. (7 Hours ago)
