Konami has rebooted MGS Rising, Platinum Games is developing the game now while Kojima takes care of the story and cut-scenes. Check the new screens of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance inside. Trailer will be added once we find it.

REBOOTED: METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING becomes METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE

METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING’s E3 2010 trailer won numerous “Best Trailer” awards and drew praise worldwide. At the 2011 VGAs, the game re-emerged as METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE with an all-new trailer.
METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE is being developed through a partnership with Platinum Games, known for hit titles like Bayonetta and Vanquish, and this new development structure promises to set all-new standards for the action genre.
The main character, Raiden, was once feared as the child soldier "Jack the Ripper" on the front lines of the First Liberian Civil War. Now, his combat mastery is channeled through a cyborg body as the strikes from his high-frequency blade slice even massive assault drones in two.
Raiden is contracted for VIP protection, military training and other duties by PMSCs (Private Military and Security Companies) in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs.
Reborn at the hands of Platinum Games, METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE pits cyborg against cyborg in battle that blazes past every human limit!

METAL GEAR SOLID: RISING was a spin-off intended to feature the actions and transformation of Raiden, one of METAL GEAR SOLID 2: SONS OF LIBERTY’s main characters, in the lead-up to METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS.
However, after Platinum Games came on board, the story was changed to take place several years after METAL GEAR SOLID 4 to give them more of an opportunity to show off what they can bring to the series. Cyborgs are spreading at a rapid pace in the game’s world, resulting in earth-shattering superhuman action at every turn!
The original aim for a combination of stealth and action has also been enhanced, for a more aggressive new focus on pure, exhilarating action.

A Solid Collaboration Breeds a "Solidless" METAL GEAR

Naturally, Kojima Productions is still overseeing the game’s story and its world, and is also providing visual direction to ensure METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE retains the characteristic look of the METAL GEAR series. Though its exact identity is a step apart from the METAL GEAR SOLID games, the blood of the series still flows within this new METAL GEAR.
Kojima Productions and Platinum Games: Two world-class powerhouses among Japanese studios join forces to bring you METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE . What can we expect from this astounding combination? Keep your eyes on this site for more details!

oh wow ... word platinum is on board ... hmm I did enjoy Shinji's last outing .. but who specifically from Platinum will take part? Vanquish was seriously under-appreciated but if they can combine the fast pace action from that game, mix in some stealth, and use Kojima's insane story telling antics at the same time - i think would be a happy camper :D

Hell yeah!

Did not expect this type of reboot but man I am glad it turned out this way.

Raiden is pure badass in this one, pulling off lighting speed slashes with iai jutsu style, awesome cyborg design for Raiden (except those ugly high heels that annoys me).

And knowing its Platinum Games its in good hands, who is going to make it is unkown.
I hope its Shinji Mikami who made Vanquish and God Hand.

Over the top ninja action in Metal Gear universe, all action!

Lightning will strike more than one time in one spot now, badly!

PS. I love those old school text fonts, reminds me of old days of Super Genesis, music helped too lol

While I initially supported the idea of a Raiden spin-off, after this new trailer, I've been having a bad taste in my mouth.

This looks to be completely hack and slash. The trailer from E3 2010 looked more like high paced tactical action and even promised to have stealth and the "no-kill" option. It looks all of that has been thrown away now.

As a hack and slash, this trailer does look amazing. But it should not have Metal Gear in its name.

Why not? If Metal Gear Acid had "Metal Gear" in the title, why not this game? It is still a spin-off.

Well it doesn't look like a Metal Gear game that's for sure. It looks like a typical high energy action game from Platinum, which is fine if you like that kind of thing, but I imagine the Metal Gear hardcore are going to be left rather cold by it.

Definitely the biggest disappointment of the year, I wish they would've just cancelled it instead of whoring out the MG brand like this. The only solace is that it isn't canon, so we can pretend it never happened.

Does it really have anything to do with MG beside the MG part in the title? Really?

After so many titles of Metal Gear SOLID games, a spin off isnt death to franchise for god sakes, fanboys needs to take a chill pill and relax. Knowing Kojima, there will be more MGS.

Also, from my knowledge, Metal Gear has every right to be in the game because 1) Raiden is in it, 2) Its a few years after MGS4 and 3) Raiden is fighting Metal Gear which is those big mechs.

Fanboys who is close minded because its not the traditional stealth stuff that cyborg Raiden would do when he proveed his mad abilities in the cutscenes they did for MGS4.

I like MGS but I hated the stealth in it, too stiff animation, just plain boring.
But when I watched Raiden perform his ninja skills with exageration in MGS4 I said, thats it...that is the game I want!
And this happened.

I think the old design was good as well but with the slow mo it was horrible IMO, unless it was designed after PS Move which it wasent.

the old design... was a idea, they only had a slow cutting gimmick that would be more usefull in a kinect puzzle game or something like that, not a hack n' slash. We need more people that know how to make games from ideas, just for thr useless brainstorming we already have peter molineaux and "Dr." Richard Marks.

The old game was a prototype idea, they knew it wouldnt work so they scrapped it.
I mean they had Kinect and PS Move hype in their brain because that would be perfect for that but for controllers it would be a chore, break the pace during combat and just plain boring.

So you decide to slice a enemy the way you want it, like if that was better than seeing Raiden pull off a iai jutsu rapid slash and make the enemy just fall like lego.

The hit detection needs some work though so its early, probably a 2013 title.

this looks seriously cool, and if this is indeed a hack n' slash (only) I'm afraid Ninja Gaiden could lose the crown.

I don't get it. Wasn't this the scenario from the beginning? Platinum was the Developer, Konami the Publisher and Kojima some sort of producer and director... I think there's a misinformation problem with this one.

It was originally being developed by Kojima productions. It's now been re-started by Platinum.

The game was NEVER designed after Kinect or PS Move, it was a simple tech demo to let gamers/fans know the up coming gameplay basics with the sword slicing gimmick.

It takes time to make a video game, it takes time to make a 3d engine, it also takes money, people don't work for free despite their talent, they need a roof over their heads, healthy meals and some south loving ;) its also not easy with a bunch of cynical gamers and negative nancys as critics bitching and moaning about static screenshots.

Personally I'm not impressed with Platinum Games joining in, but I'm not surprised they are teaming up or working WITH Konami/Kojima as its a multiplatform effort where they are seeking parity AND there is an up coming new console next year that is most likely ALSO going to get a version to help spread the game on the platforms.

With Platinum Games all I see is that Konami/Kojima needs the extra help to make this initial game possible so good for them as long as they don't rush it and take their time, it will be a great game.

For example Ninja Gaiden 3...the entire combat idea is also cutting with a sword, it is extremely hard to define how to pull off cutting in a game and yet making it challening and not one hit kill.

Ninja Gaiden 3 has that steel on bone were the blade gets stuck which is correct. Blades, even swords, towards torsos can get stuck, they are doing it properly, but doing it wrong with no decapitation.

MG Rising is doing the decapitation right, but the cutting itself feels like cutting cheese or breaking lego pieces, there is no proper feel of feedback.
Though the enemies are cyborgs in this game so it may be easier especially with that thick blade Raiden uses.

I am extremely happy Platinum Games is dealing with the combat because I wouldnt let Team Ninja do it, other company would be Capcom which they are very good at it as well.
This games combat is in good hands, story and feel is...awkward considering Kojima is famous for that serious with rare quirky vibe to it, but we will see.
