Miguel wets himself on Forza 6

Miguel wets himself on Forza 6

Miguel hadn't told us he had one more Forza Motorsport 6 video from E3 to share, and the reason is quite obvious. Driving in the rain with no assists is clealry no piece of cake, even for the experienced pilot he is. For someone particularly familiar with the franchise who spends more time with a wheel than with us, it was quite a slap in the face to lose control of the car so often. In case you needed proof that the guys at Turn10 will make no compromises on the handling, here it is.

Should've turn off Simulation Handling. It makes it very difficult to recover the car after being sideways, almost impossible. You need very fine steering to correct the car going sideways, otherwise the car will just fishtail easily.

That was brave though. Now you've learned your lesson ahah

More often than not the assists weaken the handling model but it looks necessary in these conditions.

slippery when wet... I thought french knew that :>

Simulation is by far the best experience. He's spinning out because he turned off traction control stability on a wet track.

"Sim". Sometimes it seems like they make the simulation more "realistic" than reality. I live in Florida where it rains half of the year and I have never seen anybody sliding like this guy. I've hit 70 mph (~113 kph) on the highway in the rain in a low end Hyundai and have never had the ridiculous lack of traction seen in this video. Was reality not hard enough Turn10?

(And sadly, no I don't have traction control)

Thanks for sharing. No use to turn of aids and rain then becomes useless feature if it like driving in ice. I think the biggest problem is the force feedback. I did notice that AI is not too fast either in rain which is good. But in Dry as well I have seen people overtake some 10 cars in the starts it self, basically firs t 2 corners and then cruise to victory.

Yes, the lack of traction control is what sends the car spinning first but the fishtailing is caused by the simulation handling, which makes for very difficult recoveries. And it's really exagerated for the sake of adding difficulty, I haven't seen many cars fishtailing like that at such low speeds.

@bubble2020

Yeah, sometimes is difficult to find the difference between a highway and a race circuit lol.
One is mainly made of long straights and the other has corners all around. One is made to be smooth and the other has sudden changes in altitude. Race tracks also have a layer of rubber in the racing side of the tarmac.

Btw this happened yesterday so it's still fresh in memory - http://blackflag.jalopnik.com/heres-how-two-leadin...

Note that these cars have race aerodynamics. Even with that helping the car to stick to the ground, the cars spun just like Miguel in Forza 6. Why? That would be because a race track is different from a fucking highway. How crazy is science, amirite? lol

TBH I wanted to say something similar, but I will let it on You. :-D I agree. The game looks great BTW.

I was lucky enough to spend a few times by side of pro driver (sort of touring version of M5) on a circuit and it was raining on some occasions and no, the car isn't like this on wet surface. Yes of course, it's slippery, but here it looks like he got on ice. I know it's difficult for developers to find some proper balance, but this looks like too much IMHO. So...no surprise, that Miguel had a difficult time to recover the car.

If I had more time, I could perform better for sure, but with only one lap, and wheel settings that does not fit my tastes, it was very hard to get something good.

The wheel deadzone was too high, so the car did not react quickly and precisely, and the max steering angle was too low, like 200°, so it was hard to get used to when you play at home with different settings.

The same day I played with the pad and the same settings (as you can see in the first showfloor videos), and it was not that difficult as steering with the pad was normal, I mean, no high deadzone like on the wheel and known max steering.

In the other video (Ford on Rio), it was with another wheel that was closer to my settings and it was better (also I enabled traction and stability controls).

Yeah, you suck in the wet. :D

First spin is at 71 MPH!!! WTF??? Even I go daily 70 MPH which is around 110 km/h on wet and into turns....we all do. So this is something they really didn't test. If your car would act like this, You would get into spin during every overtake. :-D

I don't think it's in Your skills, Miguel.

Handling seems to be unrealistic for a so called simulation. I'm not sure I could enjoy this

My lord this game looks gorgeous.

Nice to see Forza being a little unforgiving, it's always done a bit too much hand holding even on the most realistic settings. Looks realistic to me given the rain, lack of assists, higher than average HP and jagged input (people don't accelerate and brake like that on a daily commute lol). Could be the game that makes me buy an X1.

People, there's a HUGE difference between a high-horsepower REAR WHEEL DRIVE car on wet roads and a low-to-mid horsepower FRONT WHEEL DRIVE car. I can run around confidently, in my wife's 175hp fwd car, knowing it will never get enough torque to break traction and when it does, it doesn't matter, because the drive is on the front wheels, which are also handling turning. In my 625hp rwd car?! Nope! I baby it, if I'm in the rain and can break the tires lose in dry weather, at 100mph.

If he had traction control on, it would've probably been fine... up to a point. Even traction control can only do so much when the contact patch can't get enough grip.

The fact that people don't know/understand the difference between wet/dry/fwd/awd/rwd/etc. makes me sad...

Looks great, but they need to either remove that animation delay on the wheel turning or have a view without the wheel. That delay is horrendous.

I don't really play these games often but shouldn't the track become less visible the faster you drive in this weather?

Those cars have better aerodynamics than the cars here, but they're also going faster (or so it seems). I'll take into consideration that race tracks are set differently from highways (though I would hope race tracks would be safer for high speeds). Also, not sure which one you were trying to say has sudden changes in altitude and corners all around, but you pretty much described our highways lol. It is not a smooth ride. Reality, what science tries to explain, amirite? lol

You go into turns while it's raining at 70 MPH? There is no way in hell you do. You'd be a fucking goner. Or, at least your car would be.

You didn't get Your driving license yet, right? By turn, I mean a normal turn, not a stupid circuit hairpin. Going 110 on wet is absolutely ok. Maybe it's time to change tires on Your car, my friend. :-)

Handling on wet is too exaggerated in this game. And nobody can convince me otherwise. There are shitloads of powerful rear wheel drive cars and they also ride on wet surface and not going to spin every time they try to change the lane or overtake a car.

Wow, can't believe how realistic these conditions are implemented. Especially Wet Brands Hatch...absolutely georgous!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksSQmIGxH_4

Really? This guy was just trying to change lanes...
