MX vs ATV Alive homemade videos

MX vs ATV Alive may not be the most highly-anticipated title coming out in May, but since we got a copy of the game with THQ, we gave it a try. Not everything is perfect, far from it, and there are clearly flaws in the way it is designed (no careeer mode, no single player championship, few tracks - especially when you start the game and have to wait a few hours to unlock new ones). However, the gameplay turns out to be pretty interesting and the graphics are more than ok for a $40 title. Add to that the local and online multiplayer features, and you have a pretty decent title in the end. It is even probably the best choice in the genre, mainly because it is a lot more realistic than the likes of Pure and Nail'd. We have prepared a big bunch of videos so you can see what to expect, so enjoy!

Looks improved from the last title. They kept the nice reflex controls and deformable terrain (Reflex has the best deformable terrain of any game I've played), and it looks like they ditched the sprite based foliage and added more post processing and weather effects.
I wonder if the weather dynamically affects the track.

They really needed to work on the player to player collision, as it would be way to easy to get knocked off when you're on a bike or quad in the last game.
Oh, and the wacky performance on the PC version...

I might pick this up; it's a good price :)

too bad about the SP campaign :( That's another drawback from the past titles that, it looks like, they don't much care about.

I've always managed to have fun with the games though, so no biggie.

I don't see a lot a of improvement. I played the first on 360 and it was fun(I got 1000 GS on that game), but had a lot of problems.
They haven't fixed the stiff animations and the collision system. Yes you don't fall in mid-air like last time but you still have that annoying sudden change of direction when you hit something while turning. The gameplay is still buggy as hell. Check out the dev playing a race and see the collisions in mid-air.

Also, the graphics have little improvement. That dune video in freeride looks pretty cool, but the motocross tracks look like the old game.

Edit: Sorry forgot to link the dev video:

games only 40 bucks and theyre releasing downloadable content, so in end you pay 50-60 bucks, but you'll have a full game by the time they release that stuff.

MrWhite Something for the sequel at least. Being able to ride one of them, and command a small team of machines with actual command functions when overridden. (2 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @Tiz: Don't know about mounting one of those, although you should have. Worse is when you override. They do fuck all because they turn into dosile dumbfucks that have to have things lured to them (4 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Oh, and hipster 'dudebro' topknot wearing scientists that invented the main threat. As fucking if! (9 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite *i should say 'became' redundant. That's the thing: the game was promising at the start until it just became a case of repetitive chore. (11 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite save for the fire arrow, merchants were useless, characters boring as fuck, and main quest chucking all the info at you at once near the end. (13 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite I played the game on hard. All of the game's initial good points because redundant after a certain point in the game. I never once found the need for any of the elemental armour or weapons (14 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Thunderjaws giving you jip? No sweat, pal. Just shoot the bastards disc cannon off with a single shock arrow and use it against him. Easy as pie. (16 minutes ago)
