PC Xbox 360 PS2 Xbox Gamecube DS PSP

Ea showcases Need For Speed: Most Wanted with one new screenshot, which will surely ring the bell to everyone who liked the first episoded of the series. Nice colors, it's cool to travel a bit from the "garage-land" set-up of the other images.
Update : 1280x820 version online. Yes, 820...

Looks good, but still not up to par with the very first screen they "hoped" to reach

Bjongers: nope, the shot you're talking about was a concept shot:

Crazy> The car was better, but the background is much more beautiful in the new shot.

yeah, the car looks better indeed, but the real shot somehow seems a bit more "harsh" compared to the concept shot...

Oh well, pretty close though...

The cars in the game look really really good, even in the Xbox version on the OXM demo...

that's a very nice screenie.
The light, the trees... very beautiful.

This game keeps looking better, but i wonder if it's just because they are capturing the 'occasional' nice moment, not actually improving the graphics.
(That garage map looks very boxy and lame everytime i see it)

Is this supposed to be a launch title?

I'm disappointed in the shadows. I was really hoping that all next-gen games would feature true dynamic lighting by default - as in, the hardware would preform it easily. I'm discouraged by all the pseudo-fake lighting I'm seeing.

That's good; we'll be able to play it sooner.
I just hope that gives them enough time to really polish the graphics and sound.
(they already have a good gameplay base to build off of)

hey i totally have to agree. lighting was the thing i was the most excited about for this next generation. i really thought that realtime shadows, self shadowing and such would be done easily now, and by default if they so chose. i'm damn disappointed in the quality of lighting in most of these games so far. lighting, above all else is the single most important thing in convincing your eyes that what you see is really there. you could have a completely textureless environment with none of your fancy bumpmapping or normal mapping, and simple geometry, and if the lighting is incredible, the scene seems very touchable and real. it doesn't work the other way around though. lighting is important, and they should be working on this...

If you don't mind me say, it's kinda stupid to wait fabulous graphics and lightings from an EA launch game. This game is easy money, quickly developed, quickly forgotten. If you want to see incredible effects, wait for PDZ or GoW instead of NFS:MW :)

smart words said, but some people just have money to spend, and they buy everything, like some of my friends..."cough" they own: PS2...Xbox...Gamecube...Nintendo DS...PSP...Game Boy Advanced...(so much money wasted!) "cough" this shows some people don't mind buying every game...

i'm probably going to end up doing you're advice in the end...unless PGR3 is too good to miss out on...

Looks pretty impressive to me, guess I must have my standards set low. Think it looks better than the target render as well.

over at ign.com it's being reported that this is currently running at 30fps and while the devs are aiming for 60, they sid it's most likely to run at a steady 30.

Source: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/652/652490p1.html

This really doesn't bother me, as it wont bother me if PGR3 runs at 30 but considering the fuss made about PGR3 possibly being 30fps I thought it was worth mentioning. As I said it makes little difference to me, PGR2 and Forza both run at 30 and are fine, sixty would be better though and again, it's only likely that it's 30, not definate yet.

This is how a NFS game should look. The first games in the series were nice but, damn, I hated NFS Underground. :(

While I agree about the lighting, you guys have to remember this is a 1st gen next-gen game. They arent going to get all of those features in there because they have new hardware to learn first. It will come guys, be patient. I think is the is definitely the most impressive screen yet. I played the OXM demo of the Xbox version, and the framerate was chugging, especially with a few cops on screen. I'm hoping that this was an older build. I'll be buying the 360 version, not the XBox version.

Exactly, this is a quick upgrade from the current gen so they can grab a few more bucks.

Well technical stuff aside, I think this game is beautiful. Really, I think the art direction and the move away from underground street racing/neon/chrome slime is really welcome and I'm surprised to see EA be the ones to do it first.

This is the only screen shot I've ever seen of this game that looks any good so far. Everything else has been rubbish, so I'd like to see this in action before I'm satisfied EA have made any effort.
