New screenshots of DOOM

Bethesda has shared these new screens of DOOM along the news announcing that this year's QuakeCon attendees will be able to go hands on with the title's pre-alpha multiplayer. Some players from the Wolfenstein Beta pool will also be selected in the following months for the alpha while the beta will hit next year.

Looks great for a 60fps shooter.

I just hope they're not re-hashing and making it feel like it's more levels of d3. I'd really like them to try going a bit exterior on this one. It's actually one of the few games series I still look forward to playing.

Can´t wait for this. I love the graphics and the brutal kills. It´s gonna be a Doom as we love it.

It looks like a sequel to Doom 3 to me. A mod? I don't think you've looked at Doom 3 recently.

I don't think people know what mods are anymore.

Good looking game IMO, I just really hate the doom 3 look. I think they over-do the demonic look and it all just looks like a 12 year old designed it.

I hope there will be graphic mod that will bump red up because it looks washed up

Looks pretty rubbish in screens...I thought it looked great in motion though

I can see that chainsaw animation really breaking the flow of the game quite quickly with how long it takes.

At least the Cacodemon looks somewhat faithful. I just wish they'd have went a bit more artistic with the colour pallet and made it bright red with a glowing eye and blue mouth. Add some distinction FFS. I swear, artists in the industry these days seem adverse to colour or something. Cyberdemon looks more shite each time I see it.

Oh, c'mon now. D3, even on my awesome 6800 didn't look this good. But, it did look good... and was really long (phrasing). In all honesty, the gameplay is so damn fast with rapid eye movement, you don't really have time to just sit there and bask in the graphical glory of the mobs...

I'm glad they stuck to the design decisions of the series and didn't get fluffy and over colorful, too. It would of really contradicted what the game calls for.

Might be a pain elemental? Those were brown and had limbs. Cacodemon's were red with no limbs.

Hope they actually have some sort of an actual story. So far all I've seen is mindless blasting.

True. I'd completely forgotten about those. Though they had red eyes and had a flaming skull inside their mouths, I think. Maybe they've just chucked them out and merged the two of them into one. Still, though, a bit of colour would be nice, instead of everything being brown.

Maybe it's the doom64 cacodemon? That was weirdly altered too.

Also, didn't know this but the original cacodemon was a rip off from this

I guess it should just look like a mario goomba then, afterall, it'll be seen for a sllit second before blasting it into oblivion. Wouldn't bea jarring distracting mess at all...nope. Not one bit :-)

it's like not wanting the enviornment in a racer to look nice becasue you're racing past it at 150mph. It's just not the point. It's about accuracy, faithfullness to the source. They've gone out of their way to call this game "doom" it should at LEAST echo the design easthetics of the original doom. If its just a sequel to doom 3 they need to call it that and stop pretending it's a "return to form"

No need for such long explanation. I got it. I just exaggerated it a bit. :-)

It certainly does look closer to the Doom 64 version. The thing is, all the confusion of it's design could just be cleared up with a simple colour adjustment. Here we are discussing which version of the monster it is. If they'd simply just coloured it red, hey presto! It's now distinguishable from the rest of the monsters. It's such a simple thing, but it does drive me nuts. The finer details matter when you claim you're basing something from the source.

Interesting, that. Where is this from?

Just today I was going through Youtube for some of Doom's soundtrack. There's a lot of stuff in Doom that's just been directly, or indirectly, ripped off (or "borrowed") from other sources. Even the soundbites of the demons and environment are rehashes of stock Hollywood sound effects. It was a different time in game development for sure.

It's some D&D artwork apparently. It was in a time when game cover art was just re-jigged versions of movie stills though, so i guess it was to be expected. Kinda funny to find out they couldn't even design their monsters the first time around. Not much has changed it seems. Lol.

MrWhite @AndreasZ94: did the people that went missing come back? I'm missing molly, Jack, Abigale and Sadie. (56 minutes ago)

AndreasZ94 My goty list would be 1)rdr2, 2) GOW, 3)detroit, 4)spiderman. Great year but i definitely want more linear games now, tlou2 better deliver (5 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 It's my goty for sure because it's my kind of game but i can see how a lot of people wouldn't like it as much as i did. (5 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 My overall feelings about rdr2, there were quite a few issues i had with it but so many incredible and unique moments that overshadowed the negatives. I did get that shitty missing people bug btw (5 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @KORNdog: Playing ac odyssey now and its on the opposite side of the spectrum. Very responsive but mediocre and weightless animations. Games like U4, horizon, gow have a good balance (5 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @KORNdog: The movement controls are definitely less responsive than most games but thank god it's much better than current gen gta v input lag. Aiming can be much improved with some setting tweaks (5 Hours ago)
  • AndreasZ94
AndreasZ94 @b0vril: Yeah you still have a lot more to go (6 Hours ago)
