New video for Splinter Cell: Conviction

Ubisoft has just published a new video for Splinter Cell: Conviction. We discover a kind of tutorial and a few minutes of gameplay. Our friend Sam Fisher is always agile and remains a killing machine! For your information, if you buy the 360 version, you will have access to the multiplayer beta of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

Looks nice, the audio seems to be out of sync.

looks cool, and looks like the good old days of splintercell, just faster.

i havnt seen such a flapping jaw facial animation for a long time tho. the animation's in general just dont look right. mainly transitions. should be fixed by release tho.

looking forward to it.

The desaturation needs to go!

(yes, I'm on a campaign against it!)

Like I already tried to say; the way sam moves is identical to the previous Splintercells. This means that running will again be a pain in the ass. That was no problem in the previous games, because it was all based on stealth. This game has a focus on fast action, and it doesn't look right to me. But still glad Sam is back.

This is exactly what I wanted from a next gen Splinter Cell . Good job Ubisoft. I can now fulfill my Jason Bourne fantasies without going to jail.

Hmmm, I have a bad feeling it's not gonna live up to the hype. could be wrong of course and sure hope I am. I loved the old splinter cells so if it's a true return to form only with more action and a better story, then it should be pretty fun. Lets hope they do co-op and online right so this puppy has some real legs to it.

i think the constant switching between black and white and colour may work against them come review time.. i don't think it's particularly needed, and i can see it maybe even distracting some..or taking away from the visual shine. I dunno.. just seems to be a case of them having too much time on their hands after it being pushed back, and using it to add things that aren't necessarily needed, or asked for.

I'd much rather them work on the confrontation parts..which seem to be universally criticised for being too limiting, not offering us the freedom we first thought.

I'd also like to see a new location for a change

It's going to be such a shame if this releases without atleast an option to turn off that rediculous black & white effect. Talk about a completely unnecessary and ugly design choice to add into a game! Who comes up with ideas like these?!?

Now I hear that Fable 3 will also include this. They said at the X10 event that the screen would fade to black & white anytime you take damage. Somehow we've got to get the message out to Developers that we don't want hideous effects like that in our games. We actually want them to look good!

@Blim- Maybe the next time you guys are at one of these industry shows you could bring this up with the developers? Just a thought :)

Looks bad to me. Graphically it's good, but i don't like the noobish gameplay with all that projected briefings. The AI also just looks bad and things like last known position just shows how bad and scripted the AI is. In my opinion it's a big step backward from E3 2007. And Sam just looks gay, like Jason Bourne ;D

totally agree Mihouse,
they changed one of the best stelth games in to an uncharted action game:( what i use to like about sam on the old gen, was that we had to plan how to hide around, and take the guards one by one,t was the beauty of the SC gameplay, now all u do is leave that stupid effect frozen shadow behind u, so the enermys thing u are hiding there, that kills the experience for me, they made the game easy with all those new gameplay ideas they come with.
i have to wait and see, if this game is a step backward, but i personally didn't like it so far.
hopefully the framerate will be fixed, but knowing ubisoft it will never hapen on this gen.

The automated bull shit and the story/gameplay "projections" aside the game look pretty damn cool. I hope you can turn that annoying stuff off though, terrible decisions

I think this looks absolutely awesome. The targeting mechanic is brilliant. I remember playing the first Hitman on PC ages ago, and it had a camera mode where you could control just 47's arm, and it looked so fucking cool when you just casually walked into a room and put a bullet between the eyes of everyone in there.

With a gamepad that's obviously impossible, but this way it not only works, it's also woven into the game as a stealth reward system/mechanic and it lookes even more rad.

I've been reluctant to really get hyped for this due to its troubled development, but between this video and Ryan Davis' reaction to the game at X10 I'm lowering my guard over here. I can't effing wait!

Not that I need a pre-release demo to make up my mind whether to buy this game - it's been a day one purchase since it was announced way back in 2006. However, it would be nice is this bit of vid was from a pre-release demo of the game. I'd love to get access to even 20 to 30 minutes worth of this game and not have to wait all the way until the ides of April to do so.

You mean uncharted 1? Actually I think it will fall well short of uncharted 1 also. But it looks ok, nevertheless.
