GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One Xbox 360 PS3

When Murdered: Soul Suspect was first announced, it was pretty promising in terms of gameplay mechanics. Alas, it turns out Airtight Games' title is very limited in that everything is very scripted and there is no challenge at all in solving the different puzzles. To make it worse, making mistakes is never punishing since you can just try again by selecting other clues to finish the ongoing investigation. Add to that the dated visuals, the laughable cat sequences and the lack of overall polish, and you'll understand that it's not easy to dive into the game's world. That being said, the game sill has its moments, as characters and story are quite interesting, thanks to the good voice acting. The problem is that thet game's price tag just isn't right.
Note: Videos are all from the PS4 version (1080p / unsteady 60fps).

The fact I was seeing legitimate online retailers selling the PC version for around £20 told me it was going to be a turkey, shame as it did look promising at first.

The cat sequences are not laughable, it's interesting and a change of pace, the game is good and it's not taking itself seriously, it's not a true investigation game, it's a simple game with a lot of handholding for people like me who doesn't like hard puzzles or a frustrating game, and the graphics are nice, tell me this is a true investigation game with a lot of real puzzles and I'll not buy it.

It reminds me a lot of Beyond: Two Souls, many reviewers are stupid, they should rate the game on what it's trying to do, and not every game has to punish you when you make mistakes, I rarely die in Shenmue or Beyond TS, and in this game fighting demons can be hard.

Clueless reviewers will kill unique games, a generic shooter will not get less than 7/10, it's sad that the fate of the industry is in the hands of these reviewers, we need to do something about them.

I liked it more than the overrated Infamous Second Son.

And clueless gamers will praise disappointing games, that's the way things go. ;)

You liked the game, good for you, but the cat sequences are laughable I'm sorry: 10-year-old animations, scripted path, terribly poor hit detection, 10-year-old on screen indications letting you know where you can jump, etc. It may be a good idea at the start, but it's so poorly executed that it makes the rat sequences of Lord of Shadows incredibly well done in comparison.

There are good ideas in the game, really. There are also nice characters and atmosphere, but in the end it's a huge letdown when you think what it could have been. Even at a cheap prise, some are bound to regret their purchase. I can see what the developers were trying to do and they probably did their best with the budget they were given, but I can't possibly advise anyone to buy the game at full price considering all its shortcomings.

It depends on the person, I'm sure many will enjoy it more than Watchdogs and Infamous SS, and will thank you for the advise, and if a short game like Infamous worth $60 then this is more than worth it.

This game has more going on in it than say anything that telltale has made... telltale's games always get high marks for some reason.

I'm enjoying this tbh, but it certainly has a lot of issues. accessibility and simplicity being one. But then i see this as a heavy rain/walking dead/wolf among us type game. Mechanically simplistic (such as the cat sections and stealth) but well paced. Story is pretty decent, voice acting is a bit b-movie and there is a general nagging feeling that they needed more time, bugs being an obvious one. But there are characters in the world that seem like they need help to pass over to the light only for them to say "nah, i'll work it out myself"...just seems rushed. Budget game though that i got for a budget price so i'm not too bothered by its shortcomings. I would have been if i'd have paid full retail for it though.

My biggest complaint is how short it seems to be. i still have 4 main "missions" but i've only played about 5 hours to get to this point (i have most of the collectibles too) so i think i have about 3 or 4 hours left. Pretty damn short

Just finished it. Thought it was good. In regards to the "who dun it" ending, it was incredibly pradictable. But there where elements of the ending that where not, and that brought it up a notch or 2 for me. Surprised me tbh. But complaints of bring rushed still stand. You can see it the environment. The HUB world of Salem in particular shows things either got cut or where never fully finished. There are hiding spots ALL over that never get used. Demon's never show up in the town of salem, and yet it contains the most hiding spots. The collectibles have no context to where they're placed. There are just a lot of them all over the place. Random. But they're worth picking up for some back story.

Overall i enjoyed it, i paid less then the price ground zero's released at and got about 5 times the playtime out of it. Platinumed it so probably won't play it again, but if you can get it cheap, i'd go for it. It's LA noire/heavy rain/ walking dead all mixed up with a dash of ghost trick. Not bad.

To be honest I'm proud to be one of those ''clueless gamers''. I always have more fun palying low budget games like this than overhyped big budget stuff like CoD or Battlefield. Games like Murdered have bad graphics and dated gameplay but have more soul into them and interesting characters & story.

A good exemple of other games like this would be Nier & Drakengard 3. Very interesting games with great characters and story but they are low budget games with dated visuals.

So clueless gamers? Nope, I'm just not impressed with big graphics. Sorry.
