Our first impressions of Dragon's Dogma 2

With all this week's releases, we haven't had time to play Dragon’s Dogma 2 much since we received our Xbox Series X code last Friday. It's also because of a lack of time that we could only record an impression video in French. Still, we wanted to share it with you in case you wanted to see the game in action today. Videos without commentary will be available tomorrow on Xbox Series X and PC if you prefer to be a bit more patient. Thanks for your understanding.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is reviewing extremely well, feels like the "Elden Ring" of 2024. I hope the wider gaming community finally gets the brilliance of the series, just like it eventually did with Dark Souls, and that it's a immense commercial success so Capcom makes more games in the series.

Hideaki Itsuno is a genius and his games are masterpieces. Hopefully Capcom gives him "carte blanche" and the resources for him to do anything he wants, whatever it end up being, it will surely be a masterpiece and a huge success.

To me it doesn't deserve the good reviews. It's a mere remake of the first (there's no 2 on the title screen) which has all the same flaws and has managed to make exploration worse by putting monsters everywhere, every two seconds. It sort of ruins much of the fun and it makes big enemy encounters banal in the end. I'm sure some won't mind, but I sure hope Capcom will address the many issues I've seen if they decide to make a sequel. I'd also be happy of they could patch the game to lessen enemy presence and make it more believable.
