Our videos of Armikrog

Armikrog was released on Steam yesterday and we wanted to share with you a few gameplay videos of the beginning of the adventure. As you'll see, this point and click game is very reminiscent of The Neverhood in that it's been made with modeling clay. The universe Pencil Test came up with is pretty unique, which made the game really appealing right from the start, but it still needs a bit of polish. The subtitles sometimes do not show for example, the sound design is disappointing in terms of pure audio quality, and the mouse pointer is the Windows cursor, which looks out of place in a video game. We hope it'll be changed for something that is more in keeping with the game world. Some people might also be annoyed by the fact that the pointor doesn't change when you move it around the environment, making it hard to know what is interactive or not. If you like pixel hunt mechanics though, it might just be the game for you.

Been waiting a long time for this. Game is short and "a bit" glitchy but after starting the game it took me back in time instantly and no game do that in a long time to me. I'm very pleased with Armikrog.

Imaginative and bonkers top notch clay-mation (and fluffy toy monster) style visuals and excellent audio design let down by uninspiring repetitive puzzle gameplay and constant backtracking, makes me feel a bit sad for the developers because you can tell they put their heart and soul into it unlike some other developers.
PS. The psychedelic screen warping and photographic negative visual parts are interesting once or twice then start to annoy.

  • Melmoth
Melmoth heh, just a week from release. i imagined it was still far off. Timed exclusive VR support for PS4 though. Maybe pick it up late then. (27 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite Each area of the plantation you explore has a "boss" family member that stalks you throughout, sort of like Nemesis, and they all have their individual traits. (48 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite @Melmoth: Yeah, that appears to be the setting from the demo, but I've read some moderate spoilers, and it's definitely in tune to what the original game was, design and theme wise, with new elements (49 minutes ago)

MrWhite Although the contradiction in that is that I don't think I'll want to complete it in VR either. Bad for the heart, and the undercrackers. (50 minutes ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth i have no idea about the setting. from the videos i've seen of the demo it looks like texas chainsaw massacre style setting with rednecks and inbreed. (51 minutes ago)
  • MrWhite
MrWhite I won't be playing it on a standard TV. It just feels lame in comparison. If you're interested in how good the genre can get, then you have to experience that to know what I mean. Give it a chance. (52 minutes ago)
