Our videos of Forza Horizon 3

Our videos of Forza Horizon 3

After BlimBlim's coverage of the preview build of Forza Horizon 3, it is time for you to discover the final version in action. Since the game is now available in most countries, we have decided to share our direct feed footage with no commentary to do real justice to Playground Games' work. The following videos were recorded on our original Xbox One and on our i7 6700k equipped with a GTX 1080. They will take you on an aerial stroll through the wilderness of Australia, but also features a few races (including 2 tracks raced in radically different cars). As you'll see, driving off-road with a super car is definitely tricky when all assists are off.
Update: 2 PC videos added.

game is the best racing game this gen, bla bla, truthfact.

HDR? would there be a diference if you record the "video" and i saw it side by side in my monitor?

Our capture card can't record HDR footage, and if it does you'd need an HDR screen to see HDR, otherwise it should look exactly the same, or just with more contrasts.

HDR has to be seen in person, iit can't be shown on a SDR screen.

Blim does not want to take the risk, so the news article will be back later. Someday, I'd like someone from MS to explain to why why direct feed capture without commentary is not authorized. It's such a shame, but I guess we have the screaming Youtubers to thank for that (and people from MS who don't want Youtubers to make money on something which is 100% the publisher's property).

So... The Xbox One version is capped at 30 fps or runs higher (possibly 60?). I downloaded 2 clips and they are both 60 fps - or is it just coincidence?

Just stick some random public domain audio/speech over the gameplay ;)

Also this pretty big youtube person recently uploaded a video with no commentary. I won't link directly but it's a recent video from jackfrags. Maybe he's too big for MS to do anything or maybe he did it especially to annoy Microsoft (he always commentates even if just to say "enjoy the video").

It runs at 30. The videos are encoded at 60 because the video output on consoles is 59.94 fps. The way videos are encoded don't change how the game looks, so even though they were encoded at 60, what you see is how the game looks when it runs at 30. Encoding videos at 30 would potentially make the games look worse than it actually is.

That PC footage is drop dead gorgeous.

What's up?
  • KORNdog
KORNdog @Melmoth: that is one impressive engine. Didn't it also run until dawn, and soon a massive open world game. (7 minutes ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts The only bad thing is that now I'm dying to play Crash Bandicoot. I didn't notice the sounds the first time, but from the second onwards they hit me so hard with nostalgia. Those are great games. (1 Hour ago)
  • Sdarts
Sdarts Just watched PSX 2016 for the 4th time, reactions from the Easy Allies and Kinda Funny guys. It was such an unbelievably amazing show that just gets better after each rewatching. Congrats to Sony! (1 Hour ago)
