Our videos of Ghost Recon Wildlands

Our videos of Ghost Recon Wildlands

Although we were sent our PS4 and PC copies of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands last Friday, we haven't had enough time to see everything the game has to offer. We however have prepared a bunch of videos of the PS4 Pro version (we figured PS4 players woulnd't mind since there was an open beta last week) and the PC one, played in 1080p with the graphics settings you can see at the beginning of the first PC video (we also lowered down the sharpen effect). It should be noted that the new Nvidia drivers haven't been released yet, which might explain the problems we encountered in terms of performance. The PC we used is quite powerful (i7 6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 Go RAM (DDR4), Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 1080 Founder's Edition MSI), but some options still are too demanding (which we can accept). Ubisoft's title still requires some optimisation on PC in our point of view though. All videos were captured on the highest difficulty setting. If you want to see the PC version in action, join us tonight at 9:15 CET for a new livestream.

You guys need a 2nd GPU. The open beta doubled my fps in SLI with Maxwell Titan X. Surprised this game scaled so well.

If ypu need 2 Titan X cards to run a game smooth, there is a problem with the game.

Seriously, if it runs like shit with one Titan X, my trusty GTX680 isn't going to cut it.

Below is the video of the game's benchmark on a GTX 970 with all settings maxed on Ultra. I searched for the GTX 970 because it is the most used GPU by PC gamers and also because the game's official system requirements Recommend it for a 1080p at High Settings experience.

So to be fair to the game, even during the open beta a simple GTX 970 stays above 30fps almost all the time with all settings maxed on Ultra. If you tweak down a few settings, I'm sure it will run almost all of the time at 60fps with most settings in a mix of Very High and High.

Having said that, it's important to note that it was an open beta and I'm sure even Ubisoft has optimized the game more since then. Plus I still feel there's no real reason to play the game at 60fps because the game is actually more of a open world game than a Third Person Shooter game.

Not to mention that it's incredibly easy even on the highest difficulty setting playing solo, so no lightning fast reflexes required. You can play this game 1080p@30fps with all settings maxed on Ultra, or 1080p@60fps on Very High/High on a GTX 970 without any major problems.

I played the beta and I have a GTX 680. Game ran in the 45/40 fps range at 1080p with dips to the 30s and that's not even at max graphical settings. I think at 720p you might hit the 60s fps range but the game will look blurry as hell at that resolution. This game is sadly not well optimised for PC :/

Can anyone confirm that there's no first person mode?

You mean a fully dedicated first person view ? Because the game will automatically switch to first person when you aim your weapon but return to third person afterwards. But no full time first person mode though.

GriftGFX @Melmoth: Yea.. but what's not as obvious to people is that their PR wasn't for the benefit of consumers. It was spinning this for their shareholders. (3 Hours ago)
  • Melmoth
Melmoth @GriftGFX: that's a pretty obvious thing he says. If visceral were doing great progress at a single player game, EA would probably just ask them to change the direction, not fire them. (6 Hours ago)

GriftGFX And as usual.. our analysis is dreadfully misinformed anyway (taking this back to Visceral): [url] (6 Hours ago)

GriftGFX I'm not as pessimistic about where things are headed. I think a lot of stuff is better in regards to this problem vs. a decade ago. (6 Hours ago)

GriftGFX @MrWhite: Time for what? People are noticing stuff that impacts game design more than ever. That's not a new problem. Add-on content of any flavor has presented this problem through decades now. (6 Hours ago)
